Only one more day until San Diego Comic Con.

Already, there have been leaks of cool stuff. The one I wish to call your attention to at the moment involves two pieces of concept art, being given away as posters this weekend, for the upcoming Marvel movies Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Thoughts on the art, on the movies, on the current state of those comics, on SDCC in general? We'll be here all week.

I've heard rumor, via viral marketing sites, that there's gonna be something "Tron 2.0" related, as well.

Some day, Some day..

Don't get me started on Marvel Comics these days. I've been very unhappy with the direction that they've taken Spiderman and other characters that I like, so much so that I haven't bought a Marvel or DC title in years. I get my comic book fix from PS238 and Gold Digger, and I've been generally happy with that choice.

The movies? Now those I've liked and I look forward to Captain America, and I hope it's better than the last movie they did about Cap. Wow that one was a stinkburger.

Agreed, and agreed. Apparently they're about to reboot their "Brand New Day", because it pissed off so many longtime fans. And are you talking about the Reb Brown made-for-TV thing? With the transparent plexiglass shield that doubled as a motorcycle windscreen? Double oy.

Wow, wiping out BND might make it worth reading, again.

Actually, there was a 90's Captain America Movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_America_%281990_film%29) that actually followed his origin story somewhat faithfully, and had the Red Skull as his main villain. But it was half of a Golan-Globus production (only Menaham Golan was involved) which tells you where the production values were.

And you can watch it on Hulu (http://www.hulu.com/watch/116031/captain-america).

I remember the Reb Brown stuff but that's not the one I'm talking about. There was another movie with an Italian Red Skull. An Intalian Red Skull who got plastic surgery to fix his face. I think it came out in the mid to late nineties.

I heard that Phelps will be protesting the con. I wish I could go there and taunt them. You know like imply that God made Adam first because he liked looking at a naked man.

I got my last comics last year. The last issue of Ninja High School. Comics just aren't as good as they used to be but far more expensive. I remember buying GIJoes for 60 cents. Now it's easily 5 times as much. The only comic I really get is Knights of the Dinner Table via subscription.

The not-so-secret viral plan is to ignore the Phelps crowd completely and drive them crazy.

Hoping for some good info (and hopefully a trailer) about Transformers: Prime and some new toy photos to drool over.

Naaah, I don't go, too expensive even for a press person, too crazy to get hotel and transportation. Staying home and waiting for the reports on the Kewl Stuff. Friend is running an all-day marathon of the DC comics-based DVD's as a substitute Comic Con with actual Comic Content!

Works for me. Best-kept (unfortunately) secret in comic-based movies is that the best live-action aren't as good as the best DC direct-to-video.

So, they're making a film about Captain America, the hero they killed off? How ever will they be able to follow up with comic sales?

Don't worry, he got better. Death in comics is like death in soap operas, it's never really over.

I think the only two characters to stay dead in the Marvel Universe are Spidey's girlfriend Gwen Stacy, and Douglas Ramsey of the New Mutants.

I do remember that they brought back Bucky after they killed Cap.

SDCC needs to go back to being about comics, and get rids of all the non-comics related TV and movie stuff that is forcing the comics out of SDCC. They also need to cap attendance so vendors don't have to complain that people are trying to get to their tables but are unable to due to being pushed away by the crowds (caught in the human riptide). It has grown too big for where it is held but they refuse to cap attendance, and that is making it an unattractive place to go.
