We who know better need to ramp the pressure up on both the WH and any other responsible Democrats to beware of anything Breitbart "discovers". Between the discredited ACORN tapes and the discrediting of this story, only wingnuts ought to believe him -- and if we keep writing letters, making calls, and keeping the light of day on them, those cockroaches will have far smaller shadows to work from.

You are right about the difference - and I agree that it's an important difference. I keep confusing right leaning acquaintances when I respond that the president is a centrist after listening to too many comments about leftist/socialist silliness *eye roll*. It could be really instructive if the WH held a press conference, showed the original video and then the edited video, and said, "We made a mistake by acting in haste, without checking further. Henceforth we will not be so quick to act on such accusations without fact-checking them."

Put the bastards on notice that if they lie, it WILL be caught and made public.

Frankly, I think she should sue Brietbart for libel/slander (I forget which is the appropriate one). I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure it'd be a slam-dunk.

Asa for that Secretary who said "it might make people question her decisions" all I have to say is that what he did will make people question *his* decisions, because he's shown he can't be bothered to find facts. Instead he'll go for a convenient scapegoat.

Hell, I think what he did qualifies as defamation of character, and that she could sue him over it.

Surely you remember the 2008 Election, right after Obama was elected a lot of people (myself included, I confess) kept saying "Hey, Obama better get on the offensive and show some guts or McCain'll walk all over him!" But he didn't. He kept backing off, retracting and making concessions to the right-wing attack machine, and as a result, it wasn't long before the McCainiacs thought they could get away with anything, no matter how stupid.

It's called "Rope-a-Dope", and whaddya know?

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but ever since a person of color with an ethnic-sounding name got elected to the highest office in the land, little by little the right has been peeling off its facade of "common sense, dignity and goodwill" and showing its full-blown wacko face.
