We who know better need to ramp the pressure up on both the WH and any other responsible Democrats to beware of anything Breitbart "discovers". Between the discredited ACORN tapes and the discrediting of this story, only wingnuts ought to believe him -- and if we keep writing letters, making calls, and keeping the light of day on them, those cockroaches will have far smaller shadows to work from.

I'm pretty sure that editing the tape the way he did lays him wide open for legal action.

Yeah, I saw this on both Keith and Rachel last night and and so pissed that the left just keeps caving every time. Strength through weakness...? I didn't expect the moon, really, but more than this.

The left doesn't cave. The White House -- which is decidedly centrist -- does. The left gets kicked, or hippy-punched, by Blue Dogs and the WH.

Except for Our Hero, Alan Grayson, who says that he hits back -- and does.

You are right about the difference - and I agree that it's an important difference. I keep confusing right leaning acquaintances when I respond that the president is a centrist after listening to too many comments about leftist/socialist silliness *eye roll*. And Alan Grayson does blow me away every time I hear him.

I'll add Senator Franken to the list of heros. If we had a Congress filled with clones (and cross-gender clones) of those two, I'd feel fairly secure about civil liberties and the Constitution.

Obama, cowardly? Oh, what a surprise, after he caved in on terrorism prosecutions, caved in on the public option, caved in on Israeli settlements in the West Bank, caved in...

... well, the KINDEST you can say about Obama is that he's an abject coward.

Alternatively, it COULD be true that he believes the Republicans are RIGHT...

Or perhaps he's lulling them into a false sense of security?

Surely you remember the 2008 Election, right after Obama was elected a lot of people (myself included, I confess) kept saying "Hey, Obama better get on the offensive and show some guts or McCain'll walk all over him!" But he didn't. He kept backing off, retracting and making concessions to the right-wing attack machine, and as a result, it wasn't long before the McCainiacs thought they could get away with anything, no matter how stupid.

It's called "Rope-a-Dope", and whaddya know?

We roped us one HELLUVA dope, didn't we?

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but ever since a person of color with an ethnic-sounding name got elected to the highest office in the land, little by little the right has been peeling off its facade of "common sense, dignity and goodwill" and showing its full-blown wacko face.

Case in point...

Someone who even manages to make "Mormon Weenie Boy" look good in comparison!

It's a trusty strategy, Red m'boy; Let the Losers think they're WINNING!

Breitbart is sickening. Is he trying to become the next Glenn Beck?

It could be really instructive if the WH held a press conference, showed the original video and then the edited video, and said, "We made a mistake by acting in haste, without checking further. Henceforth we will not be so quick to act on such accusations without fact-checking them."

Put the bastards on notice that if they lie, it WILL be caught and made public.

Hell, I think what he did qualifies as defamation of character, and that she could sue him over it.

A few big lawsuits against folks like that and maybe they'll quit with the selective quoting and so on.

Frankly, I think she should sue Brietbart for libel/slander (I forget which is the appropriate one). I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure it'd be a slam-dunk.

Asa for that Secretary who said "it might make people question her decisions" all I have to say is that what he did will make people question *his* decisions, because he's shown he can't be bothered to find facts. Instead he'll go for a convenient scapegoat.
