Bring it. :-) I've got one of the fastest mouths in the Midwest...and have sung along with the Mari-Mac karaoke video on the Great Big DVD wayyyyy too many times. Now "End of the World"...*that* one kicks my butt every time...I dunno how Alan does it!

Muah! I've played guitar repeatedly when my jamming group does "Mari-Mac"--and we've done it faster than the B'ys' own studio take, although we have occasionally only matched their live versions. ;> Playing that bugger at top speed is a genuine physical workout, I'm tellin' ya!

I have to transpose it when singing it myself, though. I can't sing it in their key.

I can't play guitar for crap (I'm a bassist, and one day, I *will* get that Lukey solo down!), but I'm a mid to low alto, and I can sing along pretty decently with Sean, but for some reason or another, I can't sing with Alan for crap! I usually shift a little higher and harmonize on the faster stuff, go a bit lower on the slow stuff, but I cannot seem to sing in whatever key he's in, LOL. And I would say something about singing with Bob, but really, does it matter what key you sing "Helmethead" in? :-)

Oh, speaking of Sean singing...did he or did he not blow "Gallows Pole" out of the water?! Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it; one of his best CD vocals ever.

Ooo, bass, awesome. [livejournal.com profile] solarbird has been teaching herself a bit of that but I have yet to try it myself. :D But I have a very healthy respect for taking on the "Lukey" solo!

Solo-wise, piccolo is more my speed, and [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I have worked out how to play "Dancing With Mrs. White"--but damn, it's hard to do that on a wind instrument when you still have to stop for breath. *^_^*;;

But man I hear you about the difficulty of singing in the B'ys' ranges!

And god yes, Sean rocks the Gallows Pole indeed.

But wait, there's more!...

New product: "WHAT A RIPOFF! VOLUME 2" continues in the tradition of Volume 1, wherein Luke attempts to get his hands on more money from his fans so he can pay off the cost of his wedding. This album is made up of tracks Luke Ski has produced over the past few years that did not end up on either "Target: Audience" or "Too Much Stuff", some of which have never been heard anywhere before. It also has cover versions and parodies of Luke Ski tracks by Tom Smith, Steve Goodie, Devo Spice, as well as cameos by Carrie Dahlby, Worm Quartet, Insane Ian, Soggy Potato Chips, and many other FuMPers (see "Explained Outtakes Part 2"). There's also a couple of spoken word tracks, including the infamous original version of "True Tales Of Ignorance From The Caricature Stand". The album has been described by Ken "Madman on the Loose" Sherlock as, quote, "worth getting". For track listing and links to order it on CD or MP3, visit the STORE at http://www.thegreatlukeski.com

HELP LUKE & SARA PAY FOR THEIR WEDDING
Luke Ski, that would be me, is getting married to Sara Trice in 44 days. We are paying the bulk of the wedding costs ourselves. If you'd like to help us out with that, buying stuff from my website is an easy way to do so. As always, it is located at http://www.thegreatlukeski.com , click on the STORE link. "WHAT A RIPOFF! VOLUME 2", an odds-and-ends compilation was just released, and my "GREATEST HITS VOLUME 1" 2-CD set would make a great gift for someone who you'd like to introduce to my music. Additionally, I'm always looking for more work as a caricature artist & cartoonist. If you'd like to hire me to draw caricatures at your party or event, or commission some cartooning artwork from me, go to http://www.artbylukeski.com for all the details. Thanks.

Not my stuff, but stuff I think deserves support: http://kck.st/8YAkI3

I didn't get to see these guys at MakerFaire, but I had already supported their Kickstarter project to get kits for a very cool biotech experiment into high schools. This is the kind of stuff that will inspire kids to become scientists and we really need to do that right now!

Mainly what I have to pimp right now is a begging bowl. WLP's Ford Exploder got totalled a couple weeks ago- I get a tiny insurance check (it was a '92 model) today and go car-shopping with every penny I could hoard, borrow, or put off paying debts with.

I hope to have new shirt designs (and I expect to have at least one) posted to the site for sale in the very near future, though...

... and WLP will be selling at AnimeFEST in Dallas Labor Day weekend, Anime Weekend Atlanta in late September, RealmsCon in Corpus Christi the first weekend of August, and OniCon in Houston over Halloween weekend.

And I would LOVE to get into the dealer's room at MarsCon in Minnesota, if only I can get the info...

I discovered that the Extreme Lead soundpack from Emu is only 50$ now.

http://www.emu.com/products/product.asp?category=526&subcategory=527&product=17894&nav=features

It says it requires the (expensive) Emulator X program to work. But I find that you can use the soundbank in the free ProteusVX just fine. For rock and pop stuff, it's a good set. The pads are nice too.

Is fanfiction okay here?

No stuff to pimp at this time, but did want to mention that we saw Luke and Carrie perform "Marvel Poppins" live at GenCon, and they had the Stitch-as-Wolverine (maybe we could call it a "Snikt"?) -- now I want one.

And I'll draw stuff other than ten-dollar doodes - I can go full-color as well if you like, though those take longer. Just that the job market sucks balls right now, and if I can use my hobby to bring in some scratch, that's awesome.
