Very nice time. Friday, I hung out for awhile in the lobby. Ben Newman, [personal profile] jannyblue, [profile] devospice, [profile] partiallyclips, [personal profile] scifantasy, [personal profile] hms42, a few other people. A cute lady on con staff named Beck, who kept "sir"-ing me until I finally got her to just call me Tom. Janny had a swag pack from Allison, my connection at NASA. Mission stickers for the Shuttle, the Hubble Repair Team, and the International Space Station. Young adult activity books. My own pad of NASA note paper. How Frickin' Cool Is That.

Eventually I headed to the Sing-Along panel, which went pretty well. Then came the What Is Filk? panel/sing, which segued into the open filk. I stayed till just past 11:00, then went to talk with folks for about an hour, and I ended up not getting all that much sleep.

Saturday, I hung out at the FuMP table in the Dealer's Room for about an hour before my concert. [personal profile] jannyblue, [profile] devospice, [profile] partiallyclips, [personal profile] scifantasy, [personal profile] hms42. :) Then the lovely [personal profile] ladysprite, with husband [personal profile] umbran in tow, came in to give me one of her typical world's-best-evar hugs and let me know the sound crew was ready for me. All good.

Just before the concert, [profile] elektra_h came up and gave me a hug and a Winnie-the-Pooh. Very soft, adorable. And then, [personal profile] stormsdotter came up and gave me a wooden mug with "307 Ale" carved into it. Very cool, very generous -- many thanks, ladies!

The concert went well. About thirty or forty people, a few newbies, a lot of songs they apparently hadn't heard. A fairly stoic, Ben Steinish gent in the front row named Alex, who I was determined to make laugh, and whom I did get a few smiles out of -- and he came up after and said how great the show was. :D Some sales, some hugs. [profile] misterseth and [profile] mnemex, among others, came up to say Hi.

Then came the FuMP show, during which [profile] devospice, [profile] partiallyclips, and I basically sang, pontificated, and got silly. All in set-up for their solo concerts after. There was Dwindling Audience Syndrome, but everything seems to have gone off okay. One guy, who'd bought the first FuMP CD back at the table, bought the other twenty from Devo. I guess we made a good impression. Then Devo had to drive back home; I'll check up on him later today.

I was going to go to dinner with [personal profile] ladysprite and [personal profile] umbran in the hotel restaurant, but [personal profile] scifantasy found the menu to a local Chinese place, and volunteered to go get. We all said Boo-ya, or words to that effect, and I quickly realized that, by and large, every Chinese restaurant menu is the same as any other Chinese restaurant menu. Got some shrimp fried rice and egg drop soup. Will took orders for a bunch of people, phoned it in, brought it all back, and then he, Janny, Becca, Arnis and I repaired to my room for a chow-down. Fun, tasty, I got the extra fortune cookies.

And then I needed to have a bit of a lie-down.

And then it was 11:15. Which meant that I slept through the steampunk sing-along, during which I was supposed to lead everyone in "The Mechanicsburg Tourism Song". And I was so frickin' exhausted I couldn't even get up, so going down to the open filk was Right Out.

And now it's Sunday, and I've got to start packing the van, and go hang out in the dealer's room for a few hours, and talk to con-com, and say goodbye to folks. Fun little shindig.

How's your weekend been?

ETA: I have no idea why [personal profile] scifantasy's LJ name is struck out. As far as I can tell, Will's account is alive and kicking.

But the dreamwidth account is not. On dreamwidth, <lj user="whoever"> defaults to dreamwidth (and backwards compatibility means it still works at all); DW-specific code allows you to specify what site someone's from thusly: <user name="whoever" site="livejournal.com"> (or insanejournal.com, or journalfen.net, or archiveofourown.org, etc) looks like: [livejournal.com profile] whoever.

Actually, I got in Friday evening just after the open filk ended. :(

And I had to hit the road last night about 11pm (just at the start of the open filk) to get home for a friend's wedding today. (175 mile drive).

I am sorry I missed seeing you off today, but safe travel home.

Productive! [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf and I went and got her a new helmet (courtesy one of my biker friends), then we went and wreaked havoc on [livejournal.com profile] ladyallyn's carpet.... yesterday I fixed (temporarily) a motorcycle headlight, wreaked more havoc on [livejournal.com profile] ladyallyn's subfloring (carpet tack strips hadda come up too), and then went to see [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper's first-ever reading as a Published Author... which went well... and today I get to have said motorcycle put back to stock height, and then go commit Yet More Havoc... and also unload the flooring that will replace what we've torn up... and tomorrow I have an interview!

So... quite the weekend.

Take it easy, dude...

Drive two hours into Houston, wading through a freeway closure, then closer to three hours trying (and failing) to avoid closure and congestion on surface streets... and the trip was totally wasted because the meeting I want down there for is, well, today. And I can't afford another $40 round trip.

Oh- and the second and third gears in the Odyssey act light eight-year-olds in the back seat now and again, not chronically or consistently but just enough to give me the high-sign that I had better look towards a transmission rebuild in my near future... dammit I just BOUGHT this thing, why didn't it do this during the test-drive?

So, yeah- you're having a better weekend. }:-{D

Morris and I spent Saturday with the Civil Air Patrol, working radios for a lost-plane search. They had not been found by sundown, so the search resumed this morning but without me.

I'm preparing the apartment for The Invasion of the Carpet Steam-Cleaners on Monday.

Also making spaghetti sauce and pesto to use the basil I got from the Heifer Project CSA on Friday, and some of the garlic. [there was a LOT of garlic].

Sorry I missed seeing you in the afternoon.. I hate seeing someone for the last time and not realizing that I won't be seeing them again (that con).
It was great sharing music with you this weekend, though. Hope you had a good con too!
Safe travels home! (We're in a torrential downpour on I-91 right now...)
