A good Sunday to you all! Two bits of coolness. First, it looks as if I'm going to be on Dr. Demento's Demento Society Basement Tapes #13 for next year! The Doc wants "Talk Like A Pirate Day" on there, to which I said "Yippee! Wahoo! Yay!"

Second, I also said "Yippee! Wahoo! Yay!" to The Incredibles. If you haven't seen it yet, that would be a fantastic way to spend a couple hours. Damn, Pixar can do no wrong.

Apart from that, open thread. Have fun, play nice.

One of the best baritones in American film and theater has died at the age of 85. Howard Keel was a man's man, and his memorable vocals graced Annie Get Your Gun, Show Boat, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Kismet, and Kiss Me Kate. Here's his page at IMDB, and here's the story at Yahoo news.

Everybody, now, and softly:
Old Man River, that Old Man River,
He must know somethin', but he don't say nothin',
He just keeps rollin', just keeps rollin' along....
(Yes, yes, as mentioned below, I know William Warfield actually sang this song in the movie of Show Boat. Just goin' for the tone, is all.

Update: That bastion of exquisite journalism, CNN, has the headline "Dallas" Actor Howard Keel Dead. Asses.

The last thread I had here has been deleted, because all the comments found the attitude expressed there... how shall I categorize it? Unhelpful.

If it'll make you guys feel better, I won't post political links here anymore, okay? Because right now I'm so thrilled with the political and social direction our country is taking, I can't express myself.

Sorry. I've had a long week of hurt losers and sore winners.
