I'm There

J. K. Rowling has given the go-ahead for a Harry Potter theme park in Florida.

It's probably pipe-dreaming, because our ideas certainly won't mesh with theirs, but... what would you want in a Harry Potter theme park/hotel? First thing for me is that you cannot get there by car. You have to ride the Hogwarts Express.

I'm also imagining four themed hotels, one for each Hogwarts House; at least two or three shopping areas patterned after Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade; and an IMAX Quidditch game, from a broom's-eye view. Many more ideas, but let's hear yours.

Went with Anne and Leslie to see Pirates 3.

Overall, had a blast. We have slightly varying opinions of how overlong it was (between ½ and 1 hour), how weirdly convoluted it got (about four betrayals and plot twists too many), and whether or not they had to go to Singapore at all (but, hey, it got 'em Chow Yun Fat). Sure wish Keira Knightley's face had got dirty once in awhile. The overall thought was that the writers didn't have anybody to tell them "no".

Apart from that... hilarious, fun, action-packed, exciting, spectacular. The last hour tightened up nicely. Lots of good acting, and nary a scrap of scenery ungnawed by somebody. Very much worth it, and it will make no sense at all if you haven't seen the first two movies. And the little tag after the credits is just wonderful.

So. I've been avoiding all of your various reviews (and, given a couple of the spoilers, I'm very glad). Thoughts?

I don't believe I have duly praised Commissioner wwetuesday for his work on this video series. It's a hilarious riff on both rasslin' and the demented music scene, and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Besides, I appear to be one of the heels, but I'm my favorite kind -- the kind who Gets The Job Done Himself, preferably just by being vicious rather than outright cheating. Or, if ya gotta cheat, cheat smart. ;) Comments on the action are welcome.
