Spent a long weekend traipsing around the Midwest celebrating my roommate's birthday. Had a lot of fun, but I'm dreading the return to work tomorrow. Woof. That, and I'm having to admit that I'm not as young as I used to be and running for four days on about 4hrs sleep/night WILL have repercussions later, LOL.

So far it's OK. I survived Monday. I pre-ordered Civ 5 today and will pick it up tomorrow during lunch. I'm SO looking forward to that game.

And in, um, ten days or thereabouts I drive down to Corpus Christi for another show. Since I have two uncles in Corpus, I've invited my mother to go down there with me... to the best of my knowledge it'll be her first convention.

Picked up my car today... after way too many years, we are a two car family again! (I've said many times it didn't matter... one car is better for the environment, less expensive... then I spent a year looking for work with one eye on the bus schedule...)

Tomorrow, Chai has his first appointment with the vet, and then I have one last meeting to attend before Archon gets here.

My car has needed stuff done lately, but so far the prices have been quite reasonable. Even did a headlamp repair myself...maybe the radio will come next.

Meanwhile, I joined a singing group, Court and Country. Nothing newer than 1630, and I'm getting dragged ever closer to the SCA. With an actual paid gig coming up weekend after this, I'm still scrambling to learn the rest of the repertoire...but I think it's a nice problem to have.

Doing good... Listening to a few concert recordings from a recent convention tonight while doing the bills and waiting for a long distance tech support call which reminds me way too much of 'Tech Support for Dad'. (And its supporting a couple of fannish friends vs family.)

It looks like I'll actually have Thanksgiving week off after requesting it, using the reason that I've only taken 3 days off of work and I need some rest. However, my parents may come into town for Thanksgiving. I don't know yet.

I AM glad that you will be able to drive home in a safer manner, with working brakes. However inconvenient it was to have to do it right NOW.

We're broke enough at my house that I will only be able to drive to work and home until I am next paid, no side trips for anything fun. Shining pennies. Getting good at it.
