Unfortunately, it'll work, because the Democrats sabotaged themselves the past two years, thanks to their members who are essentially Republicans in donkey suits.

The latest instance: 44 House Democrats have signed a letter calling for all Bush tax cuts- including the top tier, the corporate tax, and the capital gains tax- to be made PERMANENT. That means the Democrats wanting to let the tax cuts for the rich and for corporations laspe are a MINORITY in the House- and thus unable to get yet another of their campaign promises to come about.

The internal divisions and total lack of unifying agenda or ideology have rendered the Democratic Party impotent and caused what should have been signature issues to be compromised away into nothing. The Republicans, for all their evil, are at least able to take a united stand... so their base will reward them, while the Democratic base stays home, disgusted and frustrated with a party that doesn't represent them.

The next two years are going to suck tremendously.

I heard they already broke their pledge. Of course that's hard to do given the lack of specifics given in that pledge. This is just another stunt to be forgotten about as soon as people start holding them to their promises just like the Contract On America.

Speaking of COA, I remember how they said they would limit themselves to a certain number of terms. Anyone remember how many actually kept that promise?
