Not a lot of writing for 24 Hour Comics Day. Didn't go well. More later, I hope.

I have a toothache. Actually, I have a half-face-ache. An occasional jolt of extremely bad pain, in a tooth I thought I had root-canal'd. Comes and goes. I'd like it to go now, please.

A bunch of mundane stuff to do today. Bills, insurance, the like. I need to do laundry and dishes, and get these frickin' cans and bottles out of here.

And musical stuff. Stuff not forgotten, but back-burnered and now demanding attention. At least that's going well, and I found a couple of really cool free synths.

And one of the spam subject lines was, "BREAKING: New iPods!" I certainly hope not. I won't buy 'em that way.

How's by you?

Happy, tired, possibly getting a cold. Sorry to hear about the toothache. Ouch.

I have a lot of eBay stuff to ship out, I wrote a big chunk of a new song last night based on somebody else's poetry and hopefully we'll collaborate to finish off the words (it's a short poem and I rearranged it a lot also but she's okay with that) and the gutters on the ground, first, and second levels are all screened. I'm leaving the top level as kind of a control. It's like science! Only very, very, very sloppy.

Apply some clove oil directly to the owie spot. I used it when I had dry socket after wisdom teeth extraction and for me it worked better than the damned vicodin.

Old grandmother's trick: About 3/4 cup of very warm water, add about a tablespoon of table salt and stir the crap out of it. Gargle with said nasty mess - using the WHOLE CUP EACH TIME, a little at a time, about every hour at first, then maybe 4x daily. This really helps.

Don't swallow.

Last time I had pain in a root-canaled tooth, it turned out to be an infection. If it doesn't get better, have it looked at!

Yeah, you know this already, but still, have it looked at. And don't let them say "It shouldn't hurt -- it has a root canal!"

Orajel on the gums is my friend when my mouth hurts.

I also agree with [livejournal.com profile] taffy1 about rinsing with table salt water. If you have a gum or mouth infection referring pain, the salt will trigger osmosis, helping take infection out of cells, reducing swelling and pain.

I'm so glad one of my abuelita's dichos had some scientific background. Unlike putting butter on a burn.

Sympathetic ouches on the tooth pain. But it brings back memories of the Chicon (about 1992) where you & I 1st met. I had a toothache that caused me to spend days 1 & 5 of the con in the nearest ER but nothing showed up on examination or x-rays. It eventually turned out that somehow an infection had started *inside* a crown.

You said later you remembered me because of the ice bag I used for a maraca while you were doing "Disney on Ice." Now you know why I had it.

Had a great weekend at VCon. Got to meet Heather Dale and Richard Picardo, both very nice people. I got many compliments on my playing, including from Heather.

Did you know Picardo is a filker of sorts? He said he got tired of just standing up there on stage during Star Trek conventions and answering the same questions over and over, so he started writing parody lyrics and singing the songs on stage.

I hope you feel better soon!
I was back at work for the first time after 2 weeks of depressing (interesting, but nonetheless depressing) jury duty.

Please get that checked out. The last two people I talked to who had sudden toothaches wound up having heart trouble later on because the infections that had gotten into their teeth travelled (easily) into their bloodstreams and had a snack on their cardiovascular system. That's definitely something you don't need.
