ETA: Most of the YouTube copies of the vid are down. You can watch the clip at the page above.

Wow, that's messed up. Kind of true but I can't believe Fox let them get away with that.

The Simpson's title montage is different every week, has been for YEARS.

Um, I'm not talking about the different gags when the Simpsons sit down on the couch or what Bart writes on the chalkboard at school. A lot of *other* things have been changed too, it seems, like: totally different views of what Springfield townsfolk get shown and what they're doing; the Simpson's owning a wide-screen tv; and whatever else seems to have changed since the first 10-12 seasons, which was the last time I bothered to watch the show.

Wow. Just...wow.
I too am surprised that Fox let them get away with it.

If I remember, the show has an absolute "Fox can't touch our content" clause in their contracts.

I wonder when it will percolate to the UK?

This just in from a friend. "Banksy is an English guerilla artist known for putting up subversive and satirical graffiti, often in a very distinctive stencil style. His true identity is unknown."

You never heard of Banksy before today? Man, you gotta read more Boingboing. If nothing else sometimes it has great grist for songs.

I doubt Fox cares. Sadly, I doubt most Americans care, either.

Also, it would have more impact (and open Banksy to less criticism) if the intro he directed hadn't been animated by the same animation department whose conditions he was protesting.

Quite true. Perhaps Rupert "The Pirate" Murdoch has decided he no longer has to pretend to any positive virtues. He can be who he is. And the problem with "subversive, satirical artists" is that they can't touch the greater cruelties and disasters in life, but they can be touched - and exploited - by them. The public just sees silly animated cartoons; they have no understanding or concern about how they are made, and what happens to those who make them.
