We are a fortunate generation in that we can compare the vocal artistry of artistes over almost a century.....

I have to wonder. Tenors, starting with Pavarotti made efforts to break the wall of snobbery around opera. Pavarotti in particular took a great deal of flack for doing duets with the "likes" of Willie Nelson and John Denver. Female singers have done less in that regard. Frankly Dame Sutherland should have been as well known as Pavarotti.
