Sadness. Character actor Tom Bosley has passed away at the age of 83. While he's probably best known for playing Howard Cunningham, Richie's father, on Happy Days, he's done movies, TV, Broadway, commercials, and animation voice-work in a career spanning seven decades. Heck, when Disney brought Beauty and the Beast to Broadway, they did a very smart thing and cast him as Belle's inventor father. Thanks for all the fine work, sir, and rest well.

Also Father Dowling.

And my understanding is that Aaron Spelling named the David Doyle character on Charlie's Angels after him because, although he wasn't available, he was how Spelling pictured the character to look an act.

BTW, you have a faulty html tag in your post.

My goodness. I just watched Beauty & the Beast last week and had no clue that was him. Sadness.

He didn't voice the film (that was Rex Everhart). He appeared in the stage play.

Still, much sadness. Mr. C. was a part of my childhood. Actually, we've hired someone who had a recurring role on Happy Days for my daughter's bat mitzvah next year.

The dual loss of Barbara Billingsley and Tom Bosley is much sadness, indeed.

And much happiness and congratulations on your daughter's upcoming bat mitzvah!

Oh man, I grew up on Happy Days, and Tom Bosley was great in that role.

Rest in peace, Mr. C.

Don't forget the sheriff on Murder, She Wrote. RIP Mr. Bosley.

I saw him on stage, once. He was still hoofing it pretty well, although he was in his seventies at the time.

I knew his voice before I knew his face. My parents had the soundtrack album to "Fiorello!", a musical about Fiorello LaGuardia, the legendary mayor of NYC. Mr. Bosley won the Tony Award for his performance.

I remember him as the voice of David the Gnome.

The episode with the spiders was pretty scary to me as a kid...and I still love the theme song.

I was a *smidge* older than the target demographic - I liked watching because it was so...peaceful - even when there was action, there was a sense of peace - quite the opposite of a lot of the other animation out there at the time. I could relax and doze off to it.

Oddly enough, David the Gnome was the first cartoon death that really affected me.
