Leaving soon for the community's holiday gathering. Should be a superb time as usual -- the GOHs include Urban Tapestry, Mitch & T.J. Burnside Clapp, Kathleen Sloan, and the Bedlam Bards. Online voting for the Pegasus Awards is closed, but if you're an attendee you can still vote until midnight tonight. Winners will be announced at the awards banquet Saturday evening, and I'll have 'em up here as soon as I hear 'em.

So, who else is gonna be there? And, if you're not, what are you doing this weekend?

I expect to get there about 2:30, and I'm staying until Monday. Sharon is driving separately, and going home Sunday.

[livejournal.com profile] sidoux and I will be arriving tonight, hopefully somewhere around 8, depending on traffic getting out of Pittsburgh. We'll be staying through the Open Jam and dinner on Sunday, but will have to bug out before the Dead Dog, seeing as how she has to work at 4:45 Monday morning. :-/

How're you doing after the root canal?

Okay, thanks. A bit sore, but overall much better. At this point, I suspect the worst part of the three will be the fourth: A lower-jaw wisdom tooth on the same side that apparently can't be saved. Extractions are always fun.

Have fun, be safe...I'm going up to Indianapolis this weekend for "Music of the Night"..."Phantom of the Opera" played on a 19th century pipe organ in a Gothic Chapel on the grounds of Crown Hill Cemetery. With walking tour under a full moon afterwards. Am excited!!

Now, if I could just shake the last of this sore throat...

I had the pleasure of meeting Mitch and T.J.'s daughter at Confluence a year back. She's grown into lovely young lady. (No surprise there.)

Have fun!

Texas Ren Fest tomorrow to meet some pirate friends. Maybe make some more booze balls on Sunday.

I hope you're feeling *much* better and that your weekend is a pip.

Oh, and it's a hopefully Productive Studio Weekend for me, hopefully without too much power outage. (Typhoon Megi is coming by, and it's pretty weak at this point but still carries strong (60+mph, 100+kph) winds at the moment. It's not really a question of "will we lose power," it's "when" and "for how long," but maybe we'll get lucky.) Two of the last songs on the album that need zouk - Getting Away with It and Stay Away - are going to have to be on hold until November, 'cause that's when I can get the frets redone. But the only other one not yet together - Artefacts (You'll Never See) - is mostly recorded and mixed.

This feels like the longest term project ever. I feel like I'm going through Senior Honours again, only with a lot more work. I don't think I've spent this long on a single creative arts project before. I'm pretty sick of it, too. I want it FINISHED. (Then I can start on the follow-up, Distractions XD )

Not going to be there :-(

This weekend is likely to be much the same as most of them: dishes, laundry, garbage, nudging the kids to do homework, and perhaps preparing for the cold weather before it sets in (new winter jacket for the daughter, for example).

Everybody have a great time, and take lots of recordings so we can have the vicarious experience!

Recordings...

Working on it...

12.5gb so far (6 1/2 hours) and its only early Friday afternoon.

The con does not start being actively being recorded for a number of hours yet.

Not sure what I'll be doing this weekend other than wishing I got to go to OVFF (envy envy envy), practicing for Orycon, hopefully working on a new song or two, and continuing to rebuild my laptop. On the Linux side of my dual boot machine it was "install these apps, restore these files from /etc and /home/creede and you're done"; on Windows I have to track down all the apps I had installed and reinstall them, rebooting after every third one. (Fortunately I was able to save my personal data from the Windows side of things.)

But I'll have a nice shiny laptop with a nice shiny new hard drive!

I really, really wish I were there. Being an adult stinks sometimes.

Not much planned for the weekend, which is not entirely bad because I could stand to decompress a bit before the Houdini press preview and all the TV crews coming to cover the show. Might go see RED.

Have a great time, and sing one for me!

Celebrating--

I found out that they can now remove my faulty lenses and fix both my cataracts and my nearsightedness in December.

This will be the first time I see the world clearly without glasses since I was eight years old.

And it'll be shinier than it's seemed for a dozen.

I got terminated from my job about an hour ago (yes, on a Friday afternoon). She said I wasn't making my deadlines but when I asked for details all I got was one for something that was arbitrary. (And yes, I did miss a few, but most of the time I was making them.) Part of me saw it coming since they wanted me to get a whole bunch of stuff done since last Wednesday. I didn't really like the job, but it was a job. All I can do move on.

Good luck to you.

Let me know if there's anything we can do to help. It looks like a few types of jobs are shaking loose here in CU, but it's slow.

Thanks. What I need is moral support. I'm OK financially (and for that I'm grateful) for a while. I've bounced back twice before. But this job really took it out of me so I'm going to take a few days of R&R before REALLY getting started on the job hunt. (Well probably not. Most likely I spend Monday sending emails to recruiters and networking.) I need to get over being pissed off about what happened.

I'm not sure where CU is, but I have roots where I am and don't want to move for a job. The last two times I did that the job wasn't there a few months later.

I don't want to worry so much this time. While I think the anxiety gave me motivation, it also made my life miserable and accept jobs because they were there and not because they were a good fit.

Watching the BlizzCon live stream today and tomorrow. Getting to see the panels is awesome. Though there are some technical issues that are iritating me.

For those wondering why I'm watching BlizzCon it's because I can afford the $34.95 for the pay per view, and I can't afford the $2000 needed to attend a two day con.

I was going to be there (it is practically in my backyard), but the tactical situation has evolved, and that isn't going to happen.

Oh well, there's always next year.
