Great sadness. Anne Francis has passed away at the age of 80. She was a fine actress and a hella gorgeous lady.

Thanks to [personal profile] thatcrazycajun for the heads-up.

Whoa. Ann Francis of "Science Fiction Double Feature", "Ann Francis stars in Forbidden Planet"? Sadness.

(I was listening to RHPS in the car yesterday.)

...that was my first thought too.

My second thought was "Her new mind is up there...in the lights..."

Sadness indeed. I was one of those little girls the obit mentioned who adored Honey West for a vision of what I could do when I grew up that I sure wasn't getting anywhere else. (Plus, I seriously wanted a pet ocelot.)

I was watching "Forbidden Planet" just last night and wondering about her. And I was a *huge* fan of "Honey West" when I was a girl. I bet most of us little girls were.

How sad.

Some of us guys were, too, albeit for slightly different reasons. ;) Somehow, I never ended up with the Honey West action figure to go with my GI Joes.

Anne Francis.

I think of "Honey West" first, the cross=over of Honey West on "Burke's Law" second, "Forbidden Planet" third, and "Bad Day at Black Rock" fourth (which ironically also had Earl Holliman, who later played Sam on "Honey West," and a jujutsu fight scene with a Spencer Tracy mopping up Ernest Borginine in one-armed combat).

I have a dim recollection of a Dick Van Dyke "Diagnosis: Murder" episode/episodes with detective/spy show stars of the sixties playing thinly disguised versions of the former characters, and that she may have been one of them. Can anyone confirm or deny?

My mom just texted me about this. Her commentary was "The stars are falling all around us".

She's missed her calling by never getting into fandom.
