It is with great regret that I tell you I will not be at ConFusion this weekend. I just don't feel good -- nothing dire, but this Con Crudde really has me. I don't want to give it to anybody, and I cannot perform at a minimum standard. Many virtual hugs to everyone who is there, and there'll still be lots of great music and cool people and fantastic books and excellent costumes and the best bar burgers at a Michigan con.

Who all will be there? Or, if not, what are your weekend plans? (Mine involve soup, sleep, and Mentholatum)

GMoF, you do what you gotta do. The fact that you are willing to make sure that no one gets sick and that you want to perform at factory specs, is why you have the fans that you do.

Becky and I will be there- I have my badge due to Rich Tucholka, so I'll be working the TriTac tables.

Trav, please emphasize to everyone that Tom doesn't want to give anyone less than his best, and that he doesn't want to make anyone sick. You and I and everyone else who knows Tom understands his quality of character; some people might not. Make sure they know.

By the way, since I had few hours last week and less hours this week, I'm mostly staying home. Maybe I might clean, until I get some money next week. Heck, I could use some peace and quiet too.

However...I wonder if there is anyone out there that has proven remedies for con crud. Mentholatum sounds nasty. Maybe something like aspirin, an expectorant to loosen phlegm, and lots of Kleenex?

Sorry I won't get to see you. Feel better, and maybe I'll catch you at Penguicon?

I tell ya. You're one of the reasons MI cons have been more fun lately. I certainly damn hope PenguiCon....

I've been recovering as well. Not QUITE con-crud, it stopped short of becoming a cold, thankfully. My lungs just don't like me. Today is the first day I actually feel 'clear' and not tight, and occasionally labored. Sigh.

Just call me 'pharmaceutically enabled'

I'm also shaking the crud.

So, I plan to spend my weekend taking it easy: curled up in bed with a couple of books and some good chicken soup and hot tea. Though I have a couple of chore-ish things I'll likely get done as well, because they need doing.

It seemed as if a lot of folks at MarsCon were dealing with crud or allergies or somethin', donnit? Me for Thai Roasted Garlic Soup.

I kinda knew I'd be having issues. They allowed smoking in the hotel last year (it is 'tobacco country...') and I'm sensitive enough to have problems with residuals from that. My issues with additives in tobacco products have gotten significantly worse in the past few years.

My albuterol inhaler died Saturday. (My nebulizer was in our room, though).

'Tis life.

I should mention, because I'm the one who gave them to her, that the books in question are Komarr and A Civil Campaign. Which she hasn't read.

So, on the one hand, no spoilers, gang.

On the other, heh, heh, heh.

Though I don't have crud to recover from (I got something on my way out for New Year's--not that it stopped me from my New Year's plans, I just added a lot of pills and sambucol tablets to my baggage--and finally pretty much kicked it shortly before Arisia), my plans are also low-key. I have a stack of reading to do for school (including, for my Colloquium on Innovation Policy seminar, "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" and various similar discussions of ethics and hacking; I love my courseload!), and a bunch of fansubbed (and unavailable in the US) anime to watch. Plus, dinner with the folks.

Well, unfortunately, I'm almost done. There are two more to give you; and the most recent one, I don't have in paper form. (It was after I got the Kindle, you see.)

Well, no more Bujold, anyway. (Actually, no more Vorkosigan. Maybe I should give you Curse of Chalion.)

Not that it matters, because Butcher is next on the list.

The Curse of Chalion is, to my mind, one of the best fantasy books of the past fifteen years. Simply superb: memorable characters, wonderful twists and turns of phrase and plot, romance, intrigue -- great book.

I'm also very fond of LMB's Sharing Knife series, and I have to get back to Naomi Novik's Her Majesty's Dragons.

Birthday tomorrow, which means I must find my tiara today - it'll be worn all day tomorrow, at least till it gives me a headache. At some point I'll start working on a bustle for my Spring/Summer Victorian ensemble.

Don't forget the benefits of a nice hot toddy whilst recuperating from la grippe. Get to feeling better soon.

My gf is going - I can't afford to go, but even if I could I am still fighting a head cold anyway. I hope you get well soon. I personally am sick of being sick. Waking up with the feeling that someone's filled my nose during the night with wood glue is not fun. So for me is rest, fluids and DVDs.

Completely kicked what put me in the ER last Friday. Tonight, probably going to see the play Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the local community theater; tomorrow, breakfast out, dropping off stuff at the local thrift shop benefitting the local animal shelter, and visiting a friend for tea and crafts discussion (she answered my meme on Facebook, so we're going to figure out what I'll make her this year).

Get well soon.

I won't be there either, for similar reasons. I haven't fully kicked the infection (that half the people at Arisia seem to have gotten) yet.

Take it easy and get better. I'll be at ConFusion handing out flyers for next weekend's Acorn housefilk. Which I hope schedule and health make practical for you to come to.

Anime club tonight, then DnD tomorrow night, where I've got a chaotic neutral snarky elf stuck adventuring with a couple of goody-two-shoes. It is great fun. :D

I'm going to spend this weekend getting more rest and hopefully finish recovering. I hope you get some rest and feel better soon!!!!!

Get better soon. Hope you can make it to Acorn next weekend.

Since I won't see you tomorrow at ConFusion, I just got done watching you from the digital videos I made at ConClave last October. It took me a while to get them from the Panasonic Camera 8gig SDHC chip (less chance of running out of 1's) to the Panasonic Tri-Corder that is old enough to only know about 2gig SD chips. Finally figured out how to fake it out, so I got all digital transfers made instead of having to analog transfer from camera to machine. DVDs have been archivered, including Juanita Coulson and the Sutton's concerts.

ConFusion had to become a one-day convention for me, so only Saturday this year.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you get better soon. I have a RPG game over Skype tonight (first one in months). I might go down to the food bank depending on how I feel. Right now I'm exhausted. Work was busy but not that busy. I'm tired because I have a new schedule to adapt to. I'll probably spend the weekend relaxing at home with my furries.
