She sounds a lot like Madonna from ten years ago or so. I like the lyrics. I bet a bunch of parents are going to find it objectionable, though. Hating others appears to be "in" currently.

Nice to see some major media stars helping to buck the trend. I hope it becomes a huge hit for her.

I thought it sounded like "Waterfalls" by TLC (I think) at least at parts. And of course parents are going to be upset.

There are a LOT of people who have been commenting/complaining about how much this sounds like "Express Yourself." I'm just trying to look at that with mash-up potential in mind. ;-)

I've heard more than a few grumblings about her use of "chola" and "Orient" in the lyrics, as well, more the latter than the former. It takes a little of the empowerment out of the song if you're resorting to derogatory names for the sake of a rhyme (cf: my icon, and the song/video from which it was taken).

Lady GaGa is Madonna for the 21st Century. I remember when The Material Girl was just as much a polarizing persona as GaGa.

On the one hand, the social/political sentiment is nice.

On the other, it's a freaking Lady Gaga song!!!

It isn't saying anything that wasn't said in La Cage aux Folles with better melody and dancing. It won't outrage anybody except the Christian right, who hate everything anyway. And it's not going to bring diversity to people who never wanted to be diverse to begin with. I say it's Gaga Gorilla's attempt to prove she can do "daring" social problem songs.

Very good song. I think Lady Gaga is one of the few popstars to have the potential to stick around for a while. She's definitely got the musical chops for it anyway.
