Sadness. Numerous sources report that author Diana Wynne Jones, best known for the Chrestomanci series and Howl's Moving Castle, has passed away at the age of 76.

Dude, you're kinda bumming me out. Howl blew me out of the freakin' water when I read it.

It's odd the only article about it in English showed up less than half an hour ago, even though Twitter has known since this morning. I don't think I can make it through all the same words and feelings again, but wrote about it (http://ashkitty.livejournal.com/1082075.html) already. Gutted, really. :(

I know that Neil Gaiman is heart broken. He said he went to see her last night to say goodbye, on his Twitter feed. I get the idea that, in so many ways, she was his "mom".

Wow. She hung on a long time with a really terrible cancer. (Not that there's "good" cancer, but lung cancer is...yeah.)

I'm going to go curl up with The Tough Guide To Fantasyland and think good thoughts for her and her loved ones.

Oh, no! Oh, that is very sad news. What a wonderful writer she was -- I loved her books.

Aye. The Tough Guide was ... well, so definitive. May she rest well.

So sad to hear this. I just read (for the first time) Howl's Moving Castle within the last week or so & re-watched the movie based on the book this morning. Sad news, indeed.

I am so, so sad to hear that, earlier this year I read through the Christomancy series and of course I love Howl's Moving Castle and the books that come after it.

I have not, as yet, read enough of her stuff. I got to her pretty late.
I hope she rests well and that her pain is gone.
