Great fun so far. My concert yesterday was a lot of fun, and that'll be up in the next couple of days. I'm just out the door to hang out for awhile, be interviewed by Howard Tayler on his podcast panel, and maybe get some barbecue for dinner.

How's your weekend?

My weekend has been pretty darn fine... butternut squash-pesto-italian sausage pizza (YUM - though I never would've tried it if I didn't trust the cook implicitly), a good long motorcycle ride, and then ribs, sautee'ed collards (BACON!), homemade mac'n'cheese, and sweet potato pie, and my first ever mint julep.

I do envy you for getting to meet HoTay. (And Scalzi, presumably.)

PENGUINS!!! I hear tell it's snowing in that part of the world?

Relaxing, and a good time to start on a CD for Contata. (I will be emailing you later this week about permissions for songs on it.)

Weekend's quiet - as of Friday evening I've been living in Illinois for a year, so that day was a bit rough for me. And I banged my forehead on a sink faucet handle, cut myself good :(

A friend of mine is at PenguiCon, she told me your Saturday concert was in a tiny room! Don't the con planners know you draw a large crowd??

Also, found this gem on youtube, a short film that picked up some acclaim at Sundance - essentially, what if HP Lovecraft taught sex education? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3gNQ2KYCb4

Yes, we know Tom draws a big crowd. The spaces available are not always ideal for various reasons, and the ideal spaces aren't always available for equally various reasons, but the catchphrase for next year's con: 'bigger hotel'. :) Believe me, they already know I want a bigger room for my music track. ;)

Thanks, Tom, for your awesome performances for both my track and Sheryl's Masquerade. Good times. :)

(And BBQ sounds dang fine right now, considering I haven't eaten since breakfast in the consuite this morning...)

Been interesting. Tried a board game on Friday night called "Alien Frontier" (as described in a previous post). Went to the Wheaton Prarie Plants sale yesterday. There was a huge line out front. I managed to get a fern and some Asters for my front lawn. I'm waiting to plant the fern until it grows some more. Also planted the herbs in my herb pot (cilantro, oregano, and parsley). There's some chives left over from last year that managed to survive a winter in the garage. Let's see if all 4 can get along.

Spent the morning shuffling stuff around my City of Heroes characters and doing some missions. I reached the daily email max on my account (you send stuff to other characters via the in-game email) and made good progress on the crafting badges.

I'm going to spend the afternoon taking a break from the screen to clean up a little bit and catch up on podcasts if possible before my RPG game. During the game, I'm going to update the DucKon website with new information.

You can send stuff over email now in CoH? Yay! I stopped a couple years ago, but I'm glad they seem determined to keep improving the game.

Oh you don't know the half of it! They've added a bunch of stuff over the past few years. New zones, new powers, new missions, graphics upgrade, new contacts, user-created missions, switching from hero to villain and vice versa, a bunch of quality of life improvements.

The two biggest ones are connected in the setting. First they expanded on that "mirror universe" where Statesman is evil and rules the world. You can make characters from that universe and game with them either being loyal to Emperor Cole (Tyrant) or part of the Resistance before going to Paragon City or Rogue Isles at level 20. So you get to explore 3 zones of the mirror world and learn more about the game setting.

Emperor Cole has gained the favor of the Well of Furies, the source of superhuman power, and is starting an invasion of Primal Earth. To fight Cole you have to draw the attention of the Well away from Cole and to you. This means there is actual post-level-50 advancement and you can become an Incarnate of power. This gives you more things to do when you hit max level.

The game just celebrated 7 years and it's still loads of fun. You may want to consider returning.

Probably not as good as yours. Granted, got to see the COG perform twice this weekend (and recorded one of the two concerts- will play it on DementiaRadio.org this Wednesday). Unfortunately, failed to break even at a very poorly attended con. Money going to be VERY tight for a while.

Extremely productive:

A $4 part on my car wore out, and I replaced it myself. :-D

My apartment is clean, my bills are paid, all the usual life-maintenance chores (dishes, laundry, groceries) are complete, and I finally finished a project I started 15 years ago.

Oh and I watched about 6 hours of the first season of Mythbusters on Netflix.

...and now? Hockey and a beer.

Tomorrow? Back to the office. Though BBQ does sound pretty good right now...

May I just say this sounds like a totally rockin' couple days to me. If I'd had such a weekend, I'd go to bed Sunday night one happy and satisfied camper. So, good job, and thanks. Gives me hope.

Just saw Arya and Syrio. And, oh yeah.

I'm ready for Martin to break my heart in a thousand ways, but the one payoff I will NOT forgive him for denying me, should he do so, involves Arya kicking ass while Nymeria's wild legions run roughclawed-and-hooved o'er some very surprised bad guys.

My weekend rocked!

Yesterday, we had absolutely marvelous weather for the first time in forever, so I picked up an extra volunteer shift at the zoo and spent the beautiful afternoon outdoors talking to people about some of my favorite critters.

Today, we had a Wild Mercy rehearsal to work up a couple of new songs for Marcon, then I came dashing back home for a meeting wherein I got voted in as the newest member of the local volunteer fire department (no, not to fight fires, but to take pictures, do writeups and maintain the website... making a member of the FD gets me covered by their insurance at incidents).

Then I came home, vacuumed and dusted the main floor of the house, did two loads of laundry, changed the cats' litterboxes, and put away a bunch of groceries.

All in all, a fun and productive weekend! (Sadly, I still haven't been able to mow the grass, which may require a hay baler by the time the rain stops for long enough for me to mow without sinking the tractor!)
