It didn't make me cringe, which is a big step up. And I did chuckle a couple of times, but except for the Blue Man Group gag, that was entirely because of Harris' comedic strengths. Most of the gags were standard fish-out-of-water or, worse, take-a-cliche-and-substitute-"smurf". It's still not anything I'd take the time to watch.

Exactly. In other words, same Smurf, different day.

I actually like how they're doing it. If they were going to try and just redo the show in 3d it wouldn't work.

Plus Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays.

The only thing about this film I could laugh at is finding out it makes less than Underdog.

How much coke DOES a producer have to take to greenlight a project so pathetic as this? "Ooh, kids love 3d versions of stuff from years ago!" Yeah, that's why Rocky and Bullwinkle was such a tremendous hit. No, wait, it wasn't -- it made even less money than Battlefield Earth!

I cannot forgive them for mashing up the Smurfs Theme with "Wild Thing" by Tone Loc. I love mash-ups, but this one traumatized me. *shiver*

I still have my smurfing singsong LP and am now playing it backwards at 16 RPM to cleanse my mind with the beautiful Satanic messages.

I kept thinking of that line from Ghostbusters 2. "Only a Carpathian would come back to life NOW and choose NEW YORK. Tasty pick. Bonehead!"

Seriously, why does NYC attract all the weird stuff? How about London? How about LA? Whoops, too late.

As I posted on FB:

"Not even Dr. Horrible can save this one."

Sorry Tom, but I didn't even grin, the pain was too great. I actually liked the original here and there, but this looks to be 7 kinds of awful. MST3K anyone?

Rochndil, who will probably avoid this altogether...
