Got here early afternoon; lots of friendly folks, including several I knew, helped me find where I was going and get there without too much hassle. God, I've gotta work on my endurance this summer -- I have none. Matt and Rob were especially wonderful, and Rob stuck with me all afternoon to help out with stuff.

The concert went very well, methinks -- a lot of my basic songs, an appreciative crowd, a bunch of folks who hadn't heard me before, decent sales. After that I went down to the Dealer's Room and hung out at my table with Rob and Leslie, who arrived during my set.

We spent a lot of time admiring the costumes. There are a couple thousand people here, and the majority of them are cosplaying. Nothing outright bad, and far more than the average are very good to fantastic. Multiple guys with mechanical flying gear on their backs; many Proper English Gentlemen and Ladies; a goodly number of Western steam variants. A lot of incredibly gorgeous ladies in corsets and other accoutrements. Just wow.

Concert tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. After that, I'll hang out in the Dealer's Room till 6:00. If you're there, come on by -- I'll have my guitar. ;)

And how's your weekend so far?

Full of back pain and arthritic knee pain. But I got to watch a couple of enjoyable movies on TV...

Having a quiet weekend while housemates are away at Wiscon. Job hunting, a couple visits from a friend, and devouring season 4 of Frasier and season 9 of Stargate SG-1 on dvd. And I attended an informal SCA potluck/A&S project gathering Friday night - I made toll house cookies :)

Lizzie, 2/3 of the WSPA and I went to the zoo today with another friend. Then off to a local lake to hang out and have fun. Now we're home and about to head to bed. The weekend has been marvelous so far.

Having a blast at the Phoenix Comic Con - like yours, lots of cosplay, and some of it quite wonderful.

It's a nice low-key weekend around here -- just hanging around with two of my sweeties. We planted some vegetables in the garden today, spoiled the cats a bit, and watched two episodes of Doctor Who. The plans for the rest of the weekend aren't more energetic, but they're about right for us!

Currently there's reading and programming going on: so, about typical for our geeky household.

Overall - relaxing...

I opted to not attend cons in favor of getting stuff done for Contata. (1 CD is about 1/2 done, the other is still compiling.)

Had a BBQ with family this afternoon.

And how's your weekend so far?

Wiscon has been full of awesome music - Sooj and The Traveling Fates, Amy McFiddler and Betsy "Release the Cello!" Tinney - even Seanan sang during Catherynne Valente's book launch party (a rousing rendition of "Wicked Girls"). Seen a number of old friends, made some new ones.

Not bad. Been taking it easy since the contract ended. I called the recruiter and reported to him. He was happy it was so successful and how we could use this success to help get other positions since I was now "proven". I'm going to take part of the coming week "off" before I start looking again. This time the job search seems different. Well I'll get the hang of it.

Made my chili today along with a black bean soup that turned out better than expected. It could almost be a hot dip for crackers and chips. Now I have to start preparing the marinades for the salmon I'm going to grill tomorrow.

Marcon was, as usual, a good time. Again as usual, I spent about half my time working in the art show, which was even better than what I've come to expect from Marcon. (I saw one painting by John Jude Palencar, the art GoH, that I loved, but I didn't have $7,000 to spare.) Did one round-robin concert on Friday night, and some open filking both nights. Add in a dinner at Katzinger's Deli on Saturday, and bringing home three pints of Jeni's ice cream and sorbet, and yeah, fine weekend all around. Many thanks to Tricia, who always treats her art show staff exceedingly well, and to Trace, who once again put together an outstanding filk program. Sadly, when Marcon moves to Easter weekend next year, Trace won't be able to follow. He will be missed.

There were some costumes that were amazing technically (including one Chewbacca that looked completely authentic), but my personal favorite was a burly fellow who sported a goatee, a plaid flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off, and a Centauri wig. He was Londo the Cable Guy. :)
