BATMAN: YEAR ONE Teaser
Jun. 7th, 2011 07:35 pmHere's something you don't see every day, Chauncey: a ten-minute teaser.
Batman: Year One is my favorite Frank Miller story, well before he became The Guy Who Wrote The Goddamn Batman. It is, to my mind, the strongest retelling of The Origin -- word-perfect in tone and pitch, blending with David Mazzucelli's incredible art to create a film noir world both gangster-era classic and modern. I was delighted when Christopher Nolan used elements of it in Batman Begins, but frustrated that he didn't just out-and-out adapt it. This... out-and-out adapts it. And it looks and sounds fantastic.
My only concern is, I'm hoping that they're hiding the actual animation, and it's not just a motion comic with very pretty art. We'll see.
