Let me tell you what this is.

This is a SyFy miniseries, a prequel to Peter Pan. The cast is superb, with one particularly loud SQUEEEEEEEEE over here for Bob Hoskins.

Reprising the role of Smee.

He did it twenty fucking years ago, and he still looks perfect. Only now he gets to do the serious, ass-kicking version.

It appears to be coming in December. Although in Great Britain, it may be airing in July. (Here's a different trailer.)

I am SO ready for this.

Your thoughts?

ETA: If you're having any problems with the IMDB links, so am I. Dunno why.

I'm just wondering how SyFy will screw it up. They have an impressive track record of taking good ideas and making the lamest crap ever, so it's hard for me to get excited about this.

Sky Movies in the UK made it. SciFi is just broadcasting it here. So it might be good!

Great! Sky Movies did Hogsfather, right? Now I can look forward to this without the sense of dread that usually comes with a SyFy movie.

Speaking of Sky, anybody have any news on their adaptation of "Good Omens"? After their announcement last year I've heard nothing and can't find anything about it.

Oh, my.... Bob Hoskins. That was brilliant casting, both in Hook and again.

It keeps crapping out on me at 0:42!

Looks great so far though. But I don't think it draws much from the source material.

Good casting, but clearly no one has ever read Barrie's own background - I seem to remember Hook being an Eton scholar and Blackbeard's boatswain...

And... Victorian pirates?

I reserve judgement.

And in the original novel, Pan appears to be an innate part of Neverland like the fairies. It's kind of sad in a way since at the end he only remembers Hook as one of many generic pirates he's killed and completely forgot about Tinkerbell.

SyFy is showing it, but Sky movies is making it... so syFy can't crap it up.
