The Daily Kos's weatherdude has a few awesome pictures, using his Fujifilm Finepix S1500 (for the photo geeks, an 8 second exposure and he thinks f/3.1).

Someone in the comments linked to a shot of lightning striking the East Boston waterfront the other day. And there are a few other excellent pictures, storm-related and not, throughout the comments.

Any really cool storm photos you want to link to?

There's this classic APOD, with lightning and fireworks bracketing a comet. Love it.

From back in one of the several times crazy stuff rolled through the mid-south, friend of mine found this wicked shot of a forming funnel cloud (http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u288/callmewingus/05144992-39fb-442e-8cdd-f52929f97f06.jpg) in Memphis.

This set of photos taken by a local photographer (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jaredyoung/sets/72157626793784897/) during a recent severe thunderstorm has some very nifty ground strike shots.

In pre digital days, I have shot literally a hundred frames of long exposures, trying to catch lightning on film. In all the years I tried, I caught absolutely nothing, even in a lightning storm that made the national news.
