I think the way Weiner handled this could be used as an example of how not to handle such matters. I wish his initial reaction hadn't been to lie through his teeth, not least because that might complicate the issue when/if a public figure's account is hacked and used to send distasteful images.

Still, he's fairly young for someone whose been in Congress for 12 years, so I don't think he's done for. I can see him sitting out the special election and running in 2012.
