Father's Day

Many hugs and much love to all parents, grandparents, and favorite aunts and uncles today and every day. And all their kids. But be a little extra special to Dad today, huh? Nothing elaborate -- just remind him you love him. You'd be surprised what that means to him.

Oh, and a steak wouldn't be amiss.

I believed my dad the first time he complained about getting all those happy father's day greetings-until my sisters and I realized that he really was happier getting them. I haven't missed calling him on Father's Day, his birthday and so on since, even though he always acts surprised and embarrased by it. (Mom, on the other hand, has always said to call her for Mother's Day and her birthday and then acted surprise.) I can't figure them out some days but still feel fortunate to have both parents still alive. Most of my friends have lost one or both of their parents.
