Firedoglake informed me of a new Sesame Street episode which aired this past Wednesday (but you can watch it at that link) that will break your heart and then rebuild it. Here's a trailer for it:

Wow.

That's the Sesame Street I used to know when I was a kid. The one which didn't remake itself because of things that kids "shouldn't see" because they thought that, presented carefully and age-appropriately, children should see what was true.

Exactly my thoughts.

THIS is what Sesame Street was meant to be.

Sounds like a good ep to run these days. Kids would be very scared about losing their home, not getting the things they are used to, moving...and being worried about the anger and depression that can happen when someone has lost a job.
I hope this show helps some kids to understand what is happening...and that none of it is their fault...and that it is surviveable.

I saw this when it aired, it even aired in the evening in my area.

Very well done.

I remember when Mr. Hooper passed, and how depressed Big Bird was.

This tackles a situation just as tough... but in a much happier way. And I'm reminded that Sesame Street is in New York... the very same spit-in-your-eye, hang-tough New York that [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon and [livejournal.com profile] acelightning and I have been talking about the last 48 hours. How very appropriate.
