Looks good! I always thought that animated-Batman had distinct advantages, and this looks like a good new take on the mythos.

I may have to break my usual rule and go to the theater to see it onscreen.

No no no. :) First thing is, it's direct-to-DVD. Second, it's (as far as I'm concerned) the definitive Batman origin (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Batman:_Year_One), written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzucchelli. Fortunately easy to track down.

Wow. I could recognise the various scenes the clips were from, this should be incredible.

I agree with you that this is THE origin story.
