No argument there. I just think Bane is kind of a one-note villain. He was written for one purpose only: break Batman, literally, and give Batman a challenge to recover from.
I never thought he was really movie-worthy unless he is the MAIN villain and the entire knightfall storyline is being adapted--and even if it were possible to do that in a single film, given the based-in-reality tone Nolan has stuck to, there can't be any metahuman giving Wayne a miraculous healing.
I would much rather have seen The Riddler, especially with someone like Hugh Laurie or David Tennant in the role.

If Nolan does the Knightfall arc, I really hope he comes up with some other resolution. The miraculous healing felt really unsatisfying at the time.
