Bizarrely busy day with all kinds of wacky schedule hijinks. I have learned my lesson, however, in that I should never schedule a dentist appointment whilst mostly asleep & in bed, without checking my calendar for prior appointments on the same day. This error in judgment has led to my normally nocturnal schedule being all screwed today, as I have a dentist appointment at 9:30am (about 2 hours post my normal bedtime) and a pulmonologist appointment at 3:30pm (about 1-2 1/2 hours prior to my normal waking time). If these were on separate days, I'd just stay up a little late, go to the dentist, come home and sleep. The pulmonologist appointment would be a sleep a little early, wake up a bit early and go the appointment at the beginning of my day. Today... these two collide in a less than pleasant way.

Today shall be a day of naps, as solid sleep just ain't happenin'.

I had a lovely visit in Boston with [livejournal.com profile] vettecat and [livejournal.com profile] sdavido and incredibly adorable nephew H. Now I am reveling in being home and getting back to my old routine which I more than I can explain right now :).

I hope you feel better! *hugs*

Had a good weekend visiting my parents. Went to my old college (U of Iowa) to walk around the ped mall. There was a game so it was packed with soaked fans. So much has changed. I found the comics shop I used to go to. It moved ... again. The new location is cleaner and brighter. But I sort of liked the previous locations with the creaky hard wood floor and how it went on for so long. It gave the store atmosphere. They said the roof leaked so they moved to a better place. Can't fault them for that.

Cats were happy to see me when I got back. I wasn't even gone 48 hours yet they clustered around me for hours and all that night. The weekend marked 5 years of having my first two.

Work is a bit dull, I'm doing something that needs to get done but it's boring. I have to work on the DucKon site tonight so the new version is up before the first meeting.

Oh, I finally came through on my promise to donate to your fund. I also got caught up with TekDiff and put some cash in to that donation box as I promised myself I would.

Hope you feel better.

Life is very, very full, to the point where I haven't yet finished the new October Daye book, and I bought it last Thursday! :)

Great weekend at Stratford, with four good shows. Rehearsals going well, though tonight is scary, as we're doing all 50 pages of Act IV off book. Allen and both granddaughters started the fall term yesterday. Everyone is fine.

Take care of yourself, OK?

I'm trying to finish my thesis with not as much success as I hoped I would have, but decided not to fight the temptation and spent all day yesterday reading Seanan's new book (really good!). Today I was awake much earlier than usual--it's a lovely day here--so went out to breakfast, am going to sort through mail for some things I need to do today, then thesis, thesis, thesis.

Hope you feel better soon.

I missed Dragon*Con to drive my baby brother to college in Halifax. His school is a LOT like Hogwarts, down to the robes the students wear. (And my photos don't show them well. Grumble.)

The one photo that did come out was taken in the bathroom, where the graffiti showed the King's students are huge Harry Potter fans: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stormsdotter/6124237217/in/photostream

I was at Dragon*Con...had a great time...am now broke because of it. Also..I'd like to request Tom Smith Disease for next year in advance...

Now trying to get back into the swing of things and to explain why I was gone for half of last week to my Co-PI at school without saying Dragon*Con.

I got a job finally! Started Tuesday, ending almost 3 years of increasingly desperate unemployment. It's only a temp job though, but it's a start!!

I wrote two songs yesterday.

Posted one of them this morning. (Note--it is a review of One Salt Sea. Be of good cheer; it is also a song. Because that's how I roll.)

I enjoy these creative bursts. And I am always glad to have new material. However the down side of this is that I could also have profitably used that time setting up scratch tracks for recording Friday morning.

I need sideways time.

Yay for good con. Boo for con crud!

Speaking of cons... I'll be seeing you at 'Clave, yes??

I'm starting a bit of pre-Conclave panic, mostly thinking of how little time WM has left to rehearse, given that I knocked us right out of a couple of rehearsal weekends by breaking my leg. Oops. Will probably still be on crutches at 'Clave but should be mostly ambulatory by then. Right now, totally non-weight-bearing on the bad leg, so I'm off work and lazing about at home with it elevated. And yes, that's getting exceptionally boring now. The only plus is that it's given me time to catch up completely on LJ, FB and almost on Twitter. :-)

Rest well and recover from con and crudde, my friend!

Sorry you didn't do as well as you should have. I mentioned to Jonathan Coulton (who was next to you in that little alcove) that the only way they could keep you more obscure is if they threw a tarp over you. He laughed, but the kind of laugh you give out when you've been burned by hot grease; too much truth in that.

However, you said that you were considering something to put a banner over your table. I have a preliminary idea; will work up some plans and submit them to you, and with a little luck, I might build it and get it to you by next Dragon*Con. I'll private-message you later about this blue-sky scheme.

Men in kilts (http://www.appalachiancelticconnection.org) and me selling Celtic CD's. More fun than Dragon*Con and rather than putting OUT money, people were throwing money at me.
