Really out of sorts today. Two teeth next to each other, bad infection, new drugs. Talk amongst yourselves.

If it's a throbbing pain, a tincture of myrrh and/or goldenseal will help tremendously. It got me through 2 abcessed molars.

Oy, teeth. My teeth kept dentists in business for about 30 years (including a couple of bridges and more than one abscessed tooth). Hope the drugs help:)

Hope you feel better soon. For today focus on the good things because the news is depressing (ie Troy Davis).

At the Worldcon where we 1st actually met (Chicago, 1991 or so), I spent both the 1st & last days of the con in the ER with a massive toothache, & the rest of the con with an icebag clamped to my jaw. Except, that is, for a few minutes when I saw my fannish duty clear before me & did it, no matter the personal cost. So when I was introduced to you after your concert, your comment was, "Oh yeah! You were the one with the icebag maraca on "Disney on Ice!"

Feel better soon.

After having a missing filling go bad in March, an emergency pulpotomy on the tooth in April, a root canal on it in May, a crown lenghtening (don't Google that) in late July, and now the news yesterday that I will have to have a consult with an endodontist to determine whether the continuing pain requires another root canal or a rootectomy (which is exactly as awesome as it sounds)...you have my sympathies, good sir. I hope your issue does not last 6 months.

Some good news, the execution of Troy Davis has been delayed while the SCOTUS considers the case.

I have to agree. Much that I tend to be a supporter of capital punishment this was a miscarriage of justice. The fact that seven of the nine eyewitnesses recanted should have been a factor in staying the execution. In all honesty I may have to rethink my position on capital punishment and try to figure out if there's a good answer to the question of whether or not it is worth it if it means innocent people get caught up in it.

I agree with the idea of capital punishment. There are some crimes so heinous and evil that those who commit them have given up their right to live. The problem is with implementation. Proving, beyond any doubt, who did those crimes and being consistent in applying those standards has not been done. Maybe 20 years ago I read an article in Playboy (yes, they do have articles) about how capital punishment was applied and how innocent people were put on death row. What stuck the most in my mind was a case where the cops had a choice between a white suspect and a black suspect. One of the cops said, "Well you're the n****r, guess which one we're going to arrest." That was enough for me.

Tom, if you're really out of sorts, I have some extras I'll be eBaying shortly. They may not be your sort of sorts, but, hey, it takes all sorts. Anyhow, hope you get it sorted out, and I'll cut this

Apparently one of the new things my body has learned to do as I've gotten older and given birth to a child, (stupid hormones) is to have migraines. I know mine are mild on the scale that they come on but I really could lived happily the rest of my life without experiencing stabbing head pain accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.

And with that I'll go lie down now. Hope your teeth settle down soon.

That's very odd -- migraine is usually a condition of the young, which lessens with age. I hope you have actually gotten this checked out, because it sounds as though it could be serious.

I have not, but I will definitely keep that in mind. Since it's literally just started in the past 6 months I've only had a few and have no idea what if anything is triggering them or what conditions might bring them on. (I'm not that old, mind you, I'll turn 30 this winter.)

My understanding from my friends and family who suffer from migraines was that in women it's often linked to your monthly hormone cycles and so tapering off with age makes sense.

I do hope you're feeling better today. Like a lot of folks, I know from tooth pain, and there's little worse. Yay for new meds, may they take hold quick!

A friend of mine, after years of fighting bad teeth, had ALL her teeth out at 27, and has never been happier. I've been fighting them a lot longer, but want to keep the ones I have left! VERY expensive, but worth it to me (says the recently unemployed who just had two crowns done and a root canal...)
