I am going to have two teeth extracted in about an hour. This has been a long time coming. They hurt like crazy, I am already on antibiotics, and I am likely to be Not Very Talkative the next few days. Having small parts of your body ripped out does that. If you happen to communicate with me and I happen to be snappish, please understand it is nothing personal; it is the pain talking, and if all goes well I'll be better by the weekend.

In the meantime, and in case you haven't seen it, here is [profile] peteralway's brilliant Lego filk circle.

ETA: Well, that could've sucked even worse. The dentist was extremely good, but my face didn't want to get numb, and one of the teeth was a "hot tooth", so badly infected that it couldn't get numb. I didn't yell as much when I messed up the leg, and I didn't cry when I did that, either. But... it's done. Except for the next couple days of recovery. Hugs to you all, thanks for the good thoughts.

Warm healing hugs on the way. From experience, take the pain pills if they give you any and try to sleep most of the first couple of days.

I will keep my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery, and some good drugs for you to enjoy while you are laid up.

I wonder what sort of song would fit here?

*blues riff*
Not a major event.
Just a simple extraction.
Why's it feel like I went
into labor contractions?
I just wanted to eat
something thicker than gel.
But before I have some angelfood cake
I have to journey through hell!

It's a...

weekend for bleeding.
A Weekend to be billed.
Tooth removal I'm needing.
Now I don't feel so fulfilled...

I had a wisdom tooth pulled 12 years ago. I still remember the sound it came coming out (and that was impacted and the dentist said it was an "easy pull"). I don't envy what you'll be going through.

On a side note, my gaming group is switching to a fantasy game for a few weeks. My new character is a bard and since I have a guitar now and know (a little bit) how to play, I was going to bring it to the group and try a few simple songs.

Good Thoughts, Tom.

I concur with Lady Cheron -- take the pain pills *before* the pain gets ahead of you, and take Colace or another stool softener as well.

You'll feel better when they're gone. I had six front teeth pulled on a thursday and did a con that weekend. Saying "Steampunk Sex" repeatedly with no teeth and no dentures is a trip.

Take it easy.

It will feel better once they pull it. It's still going to hurt, yes, but it's a different, more bearable type of pain. I went to Disneyland 72 hours after the last time I had an infected tooth pulled, when I was SURE that I would have to cancel the trip a few days earlier.

Swift healing, feel better soon!

It would be in bad taste to say something like "you have to pull teeth to get some people to go to the dentist," wouldn't it?

Hope you feel better, and treat yourself to some classic movie you love.

Sorry it didn't go as well as it could have, but at least it didn't go as bad as it could have. Feel better soon; take the good drugs, and rest as much as you can.

Having had one tooth extracted after it turns out it had cracked (where it was thought I'd need a root canal), I can 100% empathize with you. You take it easy for the several days. Positive vibes being sent.

I'm sorry the extraction process was grueling. Here's hoping that now that the teeth are out, your pain will diminish quickly and you can be back to your old impish self.

Big hugs.

Yikes. Hope you're starting to feel better.

FWIW, if they told you to do salt water gargles/rinses, they really do help.

Yes yes on the saltwater gargle/rinse, and of course on the drugs. No bonus points for heroism! Time for lots of sleep and if you can't sleep old fun movies to distract you. Hoping you feel much better fast>

Feel better!

When I had my wisdom teeth yanked, between the drugs and rinses I didn't have too much trouble with pain. (I had them knock me out completely for the actual procedure.) The annoying part was the sticking to soft food for a day or two afterwards.

I've had that done

Two long tube socks, tied at the ends and each filled with a ziplock bag of ice are quite helpful for pain and swelling. And your arms don't get tired. Kind of like the Jacob Marley thing

Take care of yourself. And rest! We're thinking happy healing thoughts at your gums :)
