I've always loved that song, Tom... :) And, yeah, I still remember your concert at that DucKon all those years ago where I first saw you play, live. Ahhhh, great memories!
((((((((((((((((((((((TOM))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) *Sorry I get all overemotional when I hear it still, hope you don't mind the hugs...*
That is one of my all time favourites of yours! The others are "Starlight and Saxophone", "Falling Free", and "Heat of the Blood" I wish I could have been there to actually see you in person singing it. I almost always tear up listening, a good thing.
Thanks for posting, Storm Dancing is one of my favourite songs. It's actually one of the reasons I'm with the dementia group. The first time I tuned into Dementia Radio the random cast was playing a bunch of toilet humour type songs (which are fun when you're in the right mood, but I wasn't on that particular day) and I was just about to click off... but then Storm Dancing came on and I thought "Woah.". So, I guess the point of all this is that I really love the song and am looking forward to seeing you at Conflikt next year.
i have been telling tom this for years.. of course now i finally have the cd with most of those songs on it.. so tom can take a break, at least at other cons. i still like to hear the old stuff at DucKon..
A most excellent song, indeed. Frankly it's the song from my first taste of filk (an early 90's (I think) ConFusion) that mad me sad to leave the con, thinking I'd never hear it again. Years Later, when Dave re-introduced me to filk, I found it on his copy of "Digital Acoustic Collection," and had to get my own copy.
It was certainly the first serious filk song I heard that impressed me that filk wasn't all silly, or songs that seemed kind of dreary if you hadn't read the book or seen the movie, but that it could be just plain excellent music.
I understand one of my friends requested that song. She thought some of your earlier pieces were more con-friendly since they just use the guitar. She has a point. I can't imagine you doing "Something Positive" as opposed to "Psychic Voicemail Hotline" with just a guitar.
Sorry I missed your concert. I understand it was great!
