Literally, in the case of Mirror Mirror. Figuratively, as it goes up against (give or take three months) Snow White and the Huntsman, a much more serious take on the story.

(Note that neither of these is as cool as Snow in [personal profile] jimhines' Princess series. Just sayin'.)

OF THESE TWO, which are you more interested in seeing, and why?

So, these two plus Grimm and Once Upon a Time, is this the year of the Fairey tale?

Well...

I took one look at "Huntsman" and thought WANT! Snow White kicks ass. Also, the Mirror is creepy.

Mirror Mirror -- Tarsem Singh, plus what looks to be a full on Princess Bride take.

The Huntsman, because it appears to be a version of the story that doesn't leave out Rose Red.

Isn't Rose Red from a completely different Snow White story than the one with The Huntsman?

Mirror Mirror. It's more lighthearted and can be serious without the gritty doom-n-gloom we see so often in remakes.

I'd watch both. One seems to be playing for laughs more (esp. given the casting), one is more of a drama. Either could be good. I think I'm giving a slight edge to the Huntsman, though.

I still wish they'd do the comic series "Fables" as a tv series, hopefully by the BBC or someone who do it justice. I'll watch both Mirror, Mirror and Huntsman, but I'll be comparing them to Fables.

If course, when you said Mirror Mirror, I instantly wondered what Snow What would be like in the Mirror Universe

I'm unlikely to see either one short of waiting for the video, but of the two, I'd say Mirror, Mirror is the more likely to appeal to me. Bollywood and over-the-top silliness FTW!

I smiled a the Mirror, Mirror trailer and am certain to buy it on DVD, if not go and see it at the cinema. Snow White and the Huntsman not so much.

I'll probably see both, one way or another. If I had to choose, probably Mirror, Mirror, but ask me again tomorrow (or in ten minutes) and I could change my mind.

It what twisted universe does scrawny Kristen Stewart count in any possible definition of the word as being "fairer" than Charlize Theron?? And why in both of these and "Once Upon A Time" is Snow White out there in armor with a sword??

Right there with you. Although they very specifically said that she was not fairer now, but would be fairer eventually.

And she's out there with a sword because a capable heroine is a good thing, but in the minds of Hollywood scriptwriters she can only be capable if she fights. (How much you want to be, "And loses, and is saved by Her Prince"?)

Mirror, Mirror. Looks so much more fun, and I like the tone, the casting, and everything else so much better than the other mess. I do not like Miss Stoneface, ever.

I actually thought Theron did really well in Hancock. Oh, you meant Stewart.

Mirror, Mirror. The dwarves remind me of Time Bandits. And Julia Roberts chewing scenery sounds like a great time :) I will probably see the other as well, but Stewart leaves me flat.
