Well, it looks like G.I. Joe, not Team America: The Unfunny Live Action Version

Don't expect too much, and it will be a fun ride.

I liked MOST of this trailer. But the non-subtlety of the Cobra flags and banners around the White House? It lost me then. Even Willis didn't save me from that.

I know. I think this looks like fun. I hope it doesn't matter that I didn't see the first one and don't intend to do so.

Spoiler Alert

It does. But if you really don't intend to see the first one I'll give you the spoiler:

***Spoiler Alert***
In the first movie, the main plot was actually a distraction to get Zartan to replace the President. That's why the President ordered the termination of GIJoe with extreme prejudice.

I liked the first movie. It was best described as owning a whole bunch of the toys and playing with them like you were making a good old fashion James Bond movie. The second movie doesn't really do that. I can't see a "destroyed GIJoe base" playset for example.

I'm not big on the government betrayal though and the wholesale slaughter of Joes (reducing the team the cliche squad). Not a big fan of Willis either coming in like a deux ex machina (and if I'm right he plays the original general infantryman named Joe).

But I will probably see it in a first run theater because the only theater I like going to only shows first run movies and they have the best chairs (not seats).

Not having seen the earlier ones, I thought having Willis show up was a cute trick, people will laugh when they see that.
Plus, it was nice to have the kickass girl making that annoyed-grrl face at Willis' comment at the end.

Wait wait.. .Jonathan Pryce?? Bruce Willis??? Okay, yes, might have to see it.

Though I think it's interesting that we've hit a run of "Degrade and destroy our hero team and make them fight to restore their name" run of movies. See Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

... The first one kind of lost me when they white-washed Destro. I love Eccleston, but...

How do you white-wash a character that's white to begin with?

He's not. He was revealed in the comics and other supplemental material to be black Scottish.

I had an action-figure in the 1990s (with removable mask) that begs to differ.

Such as? Can you provide links or images, because whenever I've seen him bare a little skin (usually that gap on his chest), its been white.

Also, he's related to Lady Jaye, and I know she's not black.

They got Bruce? Wow.

I'll see it but probably on DVD. I want to know how they explain Storm Shadow being alive.

Used to play this scenario all the time with my Joes because I got to make napalm out of gas from the tractor tank and Dreft from mother's laundry room and completely burn an area of the yard--go destroyed playset!!!

I've never disliked anything the Rock's been in--including the Tooth Fairy. Bruce looks like he's having a good time, which bodes well.

I'm in, but will probably wait for On Demand on TV, rather than theatre.

Hmm...

Looks like it could be fun... I'm not expecting high-art or anything.
