Blow For Bush
Mar. 27th, 2004 05:49 pmNo, that's not referring to Dubya's apocryphal cocaine habit, although that's been the bemused play on the Blogosphere. The actual context is how Richard Clarke's testimony last week has laid the smackdown on Dubya's ratings. Go here for the scoop, and be sure to take the interactive poll (scroll down a bit) -- not because of any particular answer that I suggest you give, but because of the spectacular disparity between Newsweek readers that MSNBC polled and the Internet respondents. I mean, look at those numbers. And ask yourself: Are they all left-wing? Or perhaps, thanks to the 'Net, are they better informed?
Also for your Bush-Bashing Pleasure....

Date: 2004-03-27 06:49 pm (UTC)As somebody on another board pointed out though, these figures are most unlikely to ever go much above or below a certain range. Say 40 percent of us detest Bush and would decline to piss on him only if he was on fire. Another 40 percent subscribes to the "He's a good Christian boy, we like him no matter what, he means well" school. We are all fighting over the 20 percent in the middle.
PS, I am not really "anonymous", have been posting around the lefty blogs since discovering them a couple months ago. Just don't feel like going through a lot of registration jive late on a Saturday night. :)

Date: 2004-03-27 06:55 pm (UTC)I agree -- we're fighting over a fairly small slice of the voting public. What I'd really like is to get out the normally-non-voting public, get their asses into the booth!
And don't sweat the "anonymous" thing -- I'd been doing the same for two years before I finally broke down and took the, what, four minutes to sign up. :)
