The BBC reports that legendary writer, broadcaster, and all-around dry-witted guy Alistair Cooke has passed away at the age of 95. He'd only retired from his 58-year series "Letter From America" a couple of weeks ago.

Now that's why I don't save too much of my life for "after I retire..."

Farewell indeed, Mr. Cooke.

Didn't Charles Shulz die a couple weeks after he retired as well? I think there may be something there. Not in an "Everyone who retires is gonna diiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee", just that maybe people who completely love what they do can be kept alive by it or...something.

I swear, I had a good thought when I started writing...
