Shoulda put one of these up yesterday. My bad.

And then I realized that all my contributions to it were political in nature. So I'll set up another thread.

Ahhhh, Crap. 600.

Excellent! And, if memory serves me right, the graphics are still up at the Bush-Cheney page, which means you can load 'em into any graphics program and still do it the old-fashioned way.

On the lighter side....

Good news: Obviously very popular.

Bad news: Servers obviously overloaded.

Try this RealAudio stream: rtsp://rx-wes-sea138.rbn.com/farm/pull/tx-rbn-sea11:1259/farm/airam/airam/live/live.rm

or this station, which uses Liquid Compass streaming: http://www.620knews.com/listen/index.php

Yesterday the Supreme Court started a case on the alien tort statute. The Bush administration is trying to pull its teeth.

Also, per [livejournal.com profile] riba_rambles, MA law blocks same-sex couples living in states with DOMA laws from marrying in Massachusetts after May 17.

An acquaintance in fandom -- I don't know or trust him enough to call him a friend -- asked me recently, "A friend of mine wants to know why filkers are so liberal." I know him well enough to know that his political ideology is conservative, and that his line about "a friend of mine" was utter BS and not claiming ownership of his opinion.

The answer I gave him was that it's the nature of the beast, and it's tradition. Many 60s folksingers were politically liberal. (If there are any conservative folksingers, where are they?)

As for me, I skew toward the left on social issues, but toward the right on economic issues. And no, I don't care for right-wingers (unless it's hockey) and their "untax-and-spend" policies either. Archie and Edith Bunker once sang "Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again". And we got him right now.

Roger that. Although there are definitely conservative, or at least Republican filkers -- Bill Roper, Bill Sutton, and Pete Grubbs spring to mind -- they do tend to at least listen to the other side, which is more than most 'wingers ever do.

It's the guy who does Ozy & Millie, drawing political cartoons.

I love this one in particular.
