Oh, yeah, that's a major pack of idiocy there. The thing that ticks me off most about it is that they seem to think this stuff was designed to be disposable. We're not talking origami models here -- these things cost grotesque amounts of money, and were designed to last because they cost grotesque amounts of money. It's like when the newest CPU or graphics card comes by -- some people just have to upgrade, despite the expense and despite the still-superb functioning of their current computer.

Loads of fun still going on in Iraq after the appalling violence of the past several days:

Meanwhile, in the WTF Is Irony Dept., L. Paul Bremer, the civilian administrator of the Coalition of the Billing, has announced the formation of an Iraqi Ministry of Defense -- to keep out foreign invaders and occupying armies.

And the best place to keep up on what's going on is not the major news sources, but Juan Cole's Informed Comment (http://www.juancole.com/).

The Center for American Progress has just issued a report showing all the times before 9/11/01 that the Bush administration discussed Al Quaeda (hint: once).

Joy. Cell Phones Interfere With Police Radios.

This is rapidly becoming a dangerous problem: As more and more people get cell phones, highly populated areas suddenly, inadvertently find themselves interfering with police radios (which operate on the same frequency).
