I haven't followed your work for long ... I just wanted to say that you're an adorable, cuddly looking, highly talented, gifted man.
The fact that you talk to people via a blog and act as though they are some of your closest fans is because well, we are. :) Your music never fails to bring a smile to my face and your live performance at Penguicon had me rolling. When I saw that you'd solicited donations when you broke your glasses, I thought it was a wonderful way for people to show you how much they appreciate what you bring to your fan's lives. I immediately thought to myself "I need to buy more of this guy's music."
Or something. So much for romping in the forbidden meadow.
If you had it set (and I see you do now, since there's a warning below the Post Comment button, but I don't know if you had it set then), LJ would have logged the IP address of the poster for you to do a traceback. However, odds are it's some schmoe using a generic AOL account, so it doesn't necessarily help much.
'88. And, whoever this person is, they felt it necessary to create an LJ account, apparently for the sole purpose of verbally abusing me some more. Sigh. I don't i>recall mortally insulting anyone accidentally lately....
I'm posting this in both open threads, to make sure that my friends read it.
I appreciate all the positive noise, and it's great to find out how you know my stuff and what you like and why you like it. And I'm really sorry about the troll; I have no idea what I might've done to get such personalized invective.
I ended up deleting his/her/its posts. I would've edited mine, above, into an apology, except it doesn't seem to want to let me edit sub-posts, so I apologize for being cranky last night. (Although I was more amused than angered, at least at the first message.)
Same rules always apply: If you have a problem with me, please tell me to my face. I would much rather deal with something openly and have done with it.
And if you don't like my stuff, don't listen to it.
Well, I'm a new convert to the realm of filk. And to be completely honest I am a gigantic fan. I love the fact that you talk to a lot of people who post in your journal like you've known them for years. It's wonderful! I played Garboo for my mom on the anniversary of my Nona's (italian for grandmother) birthday. She was in tears and I was too. it seemed a perfect song. I know it was written for your grandma, but it seemed like something my nona would do as well.
I hope you keep doin the filkin! And I hope I get to see you live sometime
Hi! Welcome to the party. Thanks for the kind words, especially about "Garboo". That one's still hard for me to do.
And... actually, I have known a lot of these people for a number of years. I've certainly met many of them at conventions, but some of them are actual, hang-out-together, let's-get-some-pizza friends. That's the way fandom works, and thank goodness. :)
