Okay! For those of you who weren't checking out the LJ the past couple of days -- see what you miss!? We're having a contest.

Here's the drill: Next Saturday, J. Michael Strazcynski is making some kind of major announcement about a new Babylon 5 project. The noise has been along the lines of a theatrical motion picture, and the initials of the beastie are TMoS. Many people think this is something like "the movement of Shadows".

'Round here, of course, we have just a touch more fun.

Several people suggested all kinds of possibilities for what those letters might actually stand for, very few having anything to do with B5. Those are listed below. What you need to do is pick your three favorites, in order. First choice gets 3 points, second gets 2, third gets 1. Also, pick one musical style from the ones suggested. On Monday morning, I'll add up all the points, and write the appropriate song, and have it up on the Free Stuff section of TSO before Saturday's announcement.

Whoever came up with the winning song idea will get some free downloads, and maybe a bit of other swag. So will one voter I'll pick at random.

Have at it!

First choice gets 3 points, second gets 2, third gets 3.

Um, you might want to correct that; I'll assume you meant "third gets 1," since that'd make more sense.

No vote from me yet, though, I want to think about my choices.

1. The Meaning of Slime (It just has that dramatic B5 ring to it -- you know, The Coming of Shadows, The Fall of Night, and The Meaning of Slime)
2. There's More; On, Straczynski!
3. They're Mismanaging Our Satellite!

But my goddess, I love "Take My Orifices, Squid!" too. :)

Style: Heck, I dunno. Rock. Or Folk. I think your songs are especially funny and catchy when they're somewhat fast, like "I Want My Music On Napster," whatever style you'd file that under.

Tom, could you please put the list(s) behind a cut tag? It's currently doubling the length of my friends page....

  1. Too Many Obvious Spies
  2. Time Machine's Offspring Surprise
  3. The Multitude of SMOFs

G&S seems obvious for at least two of those.

I shan't vote for my own, but I shall for the following...

  1. They're Mismanaging Our Satellite! as a protest song (because it makes me think of MST3K)
  2. Tentacles Make Obscene Signals as a lull-a-bye (is that a hentai filk waiting to happen or what?), and
  3. Tigger Meets Owl's Sister as the blues (because there are so many ways that could go horribly awry).

Mm, no, if I had to ask who Fenton was, that would clearly show a lack of proper respect for the future Ruler of the World, and even my own small-but-powerful warriorsheep would be insufficient to save me from the Death Sheep's wrath. :)

We've Got A Winner!

From: [identity profile] filkertom.livejournal.com
Good morning, gang! I tallied all the votes, and the clear winner was "They're Mismanaging My Satellite!" The winning style was Gilbert & Sullivan, and I'll be getting that up on the Free Stuff (http://www.tomsmithonline.com/freestuff.htm) page by Saturday morning. (It's possible at least one other song will come out of this; the second-place vote-getters, "Transylvanian Monkeys on Speed" and "Schoolhouse Rock" are just too delightful.)

[livejournal.com profile] dbcooper made the winning suggestion, and [livejournal.com profile] djonn got the "voter who was picked randomly" award. I'll get back to you two in a day or so as to what you win.

Thanks to everyone who participated!
