Ohhh, the old-time comic geeks will latch onto this like spider-web on a goblin mask. At last, a project to collect GrimJack (http://www.acme.com/jef/reviews/grimjack/).

And a new six-issue mini-series by John Ostrander (http://www.comicscommunity.com/boards/ostrander/) and Tim Truman (http://www.comicon.com/truman/truman.htm).

More here (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=3735).

I don't think I've told you how much my daughter (Samantha, four) loves Dragon's Lullaby. As in Has listened to it twenty-five times in the past couple weeks and had me print out the lyrics so I can sing it to her as she falls asleep.

Thank you.

You're quite welcome. The new album will have a really nice version of it.

No, No, Your Double-Clicks Are Safe

Before we get deluged with everyone freaking out about it, this report at New Scientist (http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99995072), which says that Microsoft has just patented (and now intends to license) the double-click, is a little breathless. This report at Internet News (http://www.internetnews.com/bus-news/article.php/3364101) points out that it focuses on PDAs. Sounds more like MS doing the cover-your-intellectual-property-ass thing.

For the curious, the patent text is here (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=/netahtml/srchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=6,727,830.WKU.&OS=PN/6,727,830&RS=PN/6,727,830). It could probably be licensed as a sleep aid.

I doubt it. Maybe once Dubya loses the election, but not before.

I find it ironic that, as a friend of mine notes in his LJ, Reagan died "of a disease that is greatly misunderstood and discriminated against; under-funded and under-researched. Painful for years before it finally kills you." Especially since his administration tried to ignore the AIDS epidemic (he didn't even say the word until 6 years into his term!) since it was killing the "right" kinds of people (the poor and the gay). Good riddance, except that the Republicans now may have some measure of sympathy on their side. (At least it wasn't closer to the election.)

A Request

I'll ask a favor, gang. Please don't rag on Ronnie here.

Not out of any respect or affection for him or his policies, heck, no. Many of us could go into great detail about him, with extraordinary amounts of vitriol, and I'd be at or near the front of the line myself. I agree with much of your assessment, Josh (although I think it was not so much the "right" people dying as the "right" people, i.e., his friends and allies, not dying). And we could have a good laugh, or a good snarl, about how lots of Repubs are changing their tune regarding stem-cell research since Nancy was so put out by losing her husband a day at a time.

But we won't.

At least, not right now. Because, when all is said and done, a man just passed away. It sounds as if he hadn't recognized his family for awhile, and it's got to be ripping them apart.

We are better than to speak ill of the dead.

I have no love lost for the Reagans. But, in observance of our shared humanity, let's keep this respectful. Thanks.

That I have indeed done. And I actually harbor a small dollop of hope for my not-so-secret dream of Chimpy McWhistleAss and his whole gang of thugs and puppetmasters in chains before the Hague....
