Jerry Goldsmith Dies

Great sadness for fans of movie music. Jerry Goldsmith, composer of dozens of superb movie and TV scores, has passed away at the age of 75.

He composed the more modern theme from Star Trek, as well as the scores for Patton, Gremlins, Planet of the Apes, Alien, Aliens, Poltergeist, The Secret of Nimh, Legend, Twilight Zone: The Movie, and a host of others.

It's gonna break Tom Underwood's heart. He's been a soundtrack collector for thirty years, and I think he actually prefers Goldsmith over John Williams, a position with which I have no argument.
