You'll appreciate this - I volunteered that a bunch of folks in Michigan should buy it so that we could close it down and Don Juan and Miguel would be forced to come back here instead of going there.
I'm good with that. Hey, this shouldn't be some "God, that's nuts/fun/impossible/whatever" thread. Let's play.
If you were in charge of a Ren Faire -- assuming no scheduling conflicts, lack of money, or lousy weather -- who would you have performing there?
My own choices would include Don Juan and Miguel (http://www.donjuanandmiguel.com/), Ded Bob (http://www.dedbob.com/), and the Washing Well Wenches (http://www.washingwellwenches.com/).
The Sterling Ren Faire is the first one I've ever been to. The site is wonderful -- wetlands to the west, hilly and craggy, and cast members who ensure that people are entertained. I really hope the winning bidder -- the new owners -- elect to keep it open.
Is Donnel Maccian still doing the ren-faire circuit? I remember him from those days.
that's my faire. my home faire, the one i've been going to since before high school. i've managed to get there every year for the past three from friggen kentucky to keep my tradition. it's the only time i get to see my friends from high school and several actors i've become good friends with. it's my only chance to see don juan and miguel, with whom i've played so much that they remember me from year to year. my only consolation is that it CAN'T be closed down, even by a new owner. the man who started it made a clause in his will that the property HAD to remain as the faire. (yay for local knowledge) and if a new owner hurts my faire and doesn't fix it within a year, i'm gonna hunt them down and do very very bad things to them. i'm gonna go buy powerball tickets now.
i can't believe i didn't GO THIS YEAR!!!!!! and they're selling the first faire i ever went to and the only one i really ever go back to! even though i now live in New Hampshire! *sniff*
SO many good memories there.... (http://dragonpress.bogotron.net/ren/ren.html)
Hmm...Don Juan and Miguel of a surety. Brobdingnagian Bards as well double indemnity ...er...wait, they're called Empty Hats now, right?
