Okay! Almost everybody I know is at either Noreascon, the 62nd World SF Convention, or Dragon*Con. Those of you (including, I hope, me) able to get online this weekend, let us know how you're doing and what's going on. Have fun, play nice, and have a safe holiday weekend.

Some of us can't afford to hop across to the US at the drop of a hat, y'know. Can't we comment on the open thread anyway?
From: [identity profile] filkertom.livejournal.com
Sure. DID YOU GET THE E-MAIL REPLY I SENT YOU, AND THE TWO OTHER TIMES I ASKED IF YOU RESPONDED!?!?!? :)
From: [identity profile] joshbrown.livejournal.com
I keep sending you responses saying that yes, I got it, and thank you for sending it. Why aren't you getting any of my answers?
From: [identity profile] filkertom.livejournal.com
Ahhh. Dunno. I've been having some trouble with a couple addresses. Are you using filkertom at yahoo.com?
From: [identity profile] joshbrown.livejournal.com
I am hitting the "reply to" button at the top of the page. Where ever they are written from, that's where the responces are going.

Well, the FL fan-contingent is battening down the hatches as Frances decides to pay us a visit.

We'll see you in Oz. ;)

Is there anything you could do to get Frances to shift south a bit? That way, it'd hit Boca Raton, home of several of the top ten spammers in the world.

Maybe you could blow real hard. Or get some trucks in the middle of the night and haul a few hundred mobile homes to Boca Raton. Sure, you might get in trouble, but you'd be doing the world a great service.

Can't afford WorldCon or Dragon*Con, don't feel like camping at the SCA war, gonna stay home and schmooze and probably finish writing the bloody chapter for the game book I've got a contract to write. I hope the temperature drops below the 100+ degrees we've had the last couple of days.

Congratulations on the anniversary!

Can't afford WorldCon or DragonCon, and the one SCA event within striking distance this weekend will be up in the mountains of southern Colorado, which means nighttime temperatures in the 30s. Too cold to camp with the toddler, and nary a room in any of the inns if you didn't remember to book a room for a holiday weekend in a particularly scenic area until two days before your planned arrival.

So we're off to Denver. Denver's main attraction right now is that it isn't Albuquerque, but there's lots to do there by any standard.

Im going to a

...and then there are those of us who will be sweating our corseted backsides off [okay, not a technically accurate term, but it's an amusing visual] at the Ohio Renaissance Festival. Mary and I, at least, will be working ORF. Enjoy conventions, peoples!

working at borders, hoping people actually come in and shop, also hoping my coworkers decide to show up so we're not understaffed and i'm not shuffled to the cafe to cover for someone. i don't mind the cafe occasionally, but there are times that it gets damned annoying that i'm the only one apparently competent enough to be cross-trained for register, cafe, bookselling, and multimedia sales. growf. also, thanks to the holiday weekend, i'm hoping to finally get caught up on laundry and on homework. second week of classes and i'm already swamped. but if i follow my chosen career path, i'm gonna be hip-deep in books and homework for the rest of my life. again, growf. kinda.
it's also been one of my blue weeks, where i can't seem to be inspired about anything and i either just don't give a damn or i wanna sit in a corner and cry all by myself. i get these every so often, randomly. i'm seriously considering going to student hell (health) services and getting evaluated for depression, 'cause this has got to stop.
now that i've rambled all over the place, to recap: i'm essentially up to homework, work, laundry, holding the supporting role in every drama on my network, and being generally moody. nothing exciting, tho kane and i are planning to take his little sister to ohio ren fest in october for the sprout's 12th birthday.
all you folks in florida, i'm keeping you in my thoughts. keep safe and blessed be.
all you lucky folks at cons, faires, SCA events, and other fun things, have a great time, travel safe, and come home happy and in one piece

Visiting in-laws in MS. Dear folks, but mundane as they come. No computer access either, unless we get over to cousin Anne's. Possible cookout. Taking guitar and folk-music singbook just in case.

Doing what I'll be doing pretty much every weekend for the next couple of months: working to defeat Bush/Cheney and elect Kerry/Edwards.
