Convention Open Thread
Sep. 2nd, 2004 11:08 amOkay! Almost everybody I know is at either Noreascon, the 62nd World SF Convention, or Dragon*Con. Those of you (including, I hope, me) able to get online this weekend, let us know how you're doing and what's going on. Have fun, play nice, and have a safe holiday weekend.
What about those of us who can't make it to any of the cons?

Date: 2004-09-02 09:00 am (UTC)Maybe you could blow real hard. Or get some trucks in the middle of the night and haul a few hundred mobile homes to Boca Raton. Sure, you might get in trouble, but you'd be doing the world a great service.

Can't afford WorldCon or DragonCon, and the one SCA event within striking distance this weekend will be up in the mountains of southern Colorado, which means nighttime temperatures in the 30s. Too cold to camp with the toddler, and nary a room in any of the inns if you didn't remember to book a room for a holiday weekend in a particularly scenic area until two days before your planned arrival.
So we're off to Denver. Denver's main attraction right now is that it isn't Albuquerque, but there's lots to do there by any standard.

Date: 2004-09-02 08:47 pm (UTC)it's also been one of my blue weeks, where i can't seem to be inspired about anything and i either just don't give a damn or i wanna sit in a corner and cry all by myself. i get these every so often, randomly. i'm seriously considering going to student hell (health) services and getting evaluated for depression, 'cause this has got to stop.
now that i've rambled all over the place, to recap: i'm essentially up to homework, work, laundry, holding the supporting role in every drama on my network, and being generally moody. nothing exciting, tho kane and i are planning to take his little sister to ohio ren fest in october for the sprout's 12th birthday.
all you folks in florida, i'm keeping you in my thoughts. keep safe and blessed be.
all you lucky folks at cons, faires, SCA events, and other fun things, have a great time, travel safe, and come home happy and in one piece
