Greetings, all! I'm back. I hope everyone in the path of Frances is okay, and I hope you all the rest of you had as good a weekend as I did at Dragon*Con.

Today is a busy, busy day for me, so I'll make this an open thread. I'll pop in now and again. Meantime, this should give you a laugh.

The Tampa contingent seems to have weathered the storm pretty well. A crack in the window of one member's mobile home and a temporary stranding of a car in a waist-deep flood are the extent of our damages. We're very blessed.

Unfortunately, Ivan is coming, possibly as soon as next weekend. Can we come live with you? ;)

Man, I ain't got room for me. :) I don't think Florida's had a triple dip o' hurricane since they started paying attention to such things. Be safe.

I don't know how many true-crime buffs there are reading this, but I suspect there are more than a few Cary Elwes fans. Last night he played the role of Ted Bundy in an A&E movie called The Riverman (based on a true story). It was an amazing piece of acting. Who knew he could do drama? I guess after playing a comic villain in Ella Enchanted, he wanted to go for a darker shade of evil.

Doing okay here, Tom. We're already battening down for Ivan (I really wish I were the rim editor for the Tampa Tribune, as I have the perfect front page header: "ENOUGH ALREADY!"), and hoping to hold everything together...again.

Dragoncon was amazing. You were an absolute scream during the Whose Line semi-finals. See you next year?

We will see what happens about that. I should be talking with their Con-Com within a week or so. But it was a pretty darn good, if huge and noisy, time.

I hope I don't disappoint you, but...

[livejournal.com profile] snopesrecentadd has already debunked the "car hood" photo:

It's still funny, though.

Oh, it's an obviously staged photo. There'd be a lot more smudging, and many more handprints. But, yeah, it's a hoot.
