The BBC is adapting the remaining three books of Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. And they've gotten back most of the original cast, including Mark-Wing Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox, Geoffrey McGivern as Ford Prefect, and Simon Moore as Arthur Dent.

More here, and an audio preview here.

The only original cast they didn't get, as far as I can tell, are the three cast members who have died in the last 25 years.

I think it's utterly amazing and I can't wait.

(Also on the web page are videos from some of the speeches at Douglas' memorial service, but I haven't been able to watch them yet. Too heart-wrenching.)

Mind you one of those - Peter Jones WAS the voice of the guide. Hope they've cast a soundalike...

And Douglas Adams will be voicing Agrajag. Apparently he taped it as a demo before he died, although not for use in the series, but they decided to go with it.

I wonder why they're not using the guy who did Agrajag from the original radio scripts. He was just fine. (I don't remember who did it... they put his voice through a filter)

Although the flowerpot appeared in the original series, Agrajag didn't appear until book four (I believe) when Arthur found him in the temple of hate.

Ah -- I know what it was; I have a recording of Doug Adams reading the third book (in which Agrajag appears -- that's the one with the temple). So perhaps that's where they're getting the voice! Neat.

That is so cool!

I was listening to an audiobook (The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke) the other day, and Simon Moore was doing the narration -- I just couldn't take it seriously, because all I could hear was Arthur Dent whining. =)

YAAAAY!!!

THIS IS INFORMATION!!!! Oh MAAAAN this news caused my pants to acquire an unpleasant substance!!!

As far as Douglas Adams' Agrajag voice, they'll probbaly just take it from the audio book versions that he narrated.
