Why strain myself looking for the perfect phrasing, when James Wolcott of Vanity Fair has already done it for me?

My favorite line, and the one I've always assumed to be true:

"The notion that Bush is "likeable" has always been laughable. It takes a Washington pundit to be that dumb. He's an angry, spoiled, resentful little big man...'

"President Twitchy." I like that!!! And Wolcott's remark about Bush's face suffering silent Tourette's Syndrome was right on the money.

Rings a bell...

Mr Wolcott's description of Bush suddenly clicked with something from my memory vaults. One of my favourite movies is Hopscotch, a spy caper thing from the sixties with Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson, about a veteran agent who gets sidelined by his incompetent boss and takes elaborate revenge. The boss, who fitted Mr Wolcott's description to a T, was played by Ned Beatty and referred to by one of the characters as "'See-You-Next-Tuesday' Myerson." (It took me a long time to get the See-You-Next-Tuesday part: I'm naive.)

He played it an awful lot like Bush Jr...which was quite an achievement in those days. [g]

Zander
