Okay, this is blatantly commercial. Tena at First Draft reported someone on Air America Radio pointing out that Dubya, who's claiming a mandate, "won" by 51-49%, the smallest margin of error since 1916 and the smallest margin ever for a "war" president.

Mandate, my ass.

I was talking to a rather fanatical chap today, who was talking about the MANDATE. When I pointed out that 3% does is no way constitute a mandate he said: "Well in the face of such overwheming odds, any victory is a mandate". Ummm.. HUH? WTF? As he was a rather high ranking person with the Hotel chain I just blinked a lot and excused myself before saying something I'd regret... like "WHAT KIND OF A MORON ARE YOU?"

I'd remind him that nearly half the nation DIDN'T vote for Mr. Bush, and that they're pretty PO'd about the outcome, and that there's still some recorded problems with the voting in several places, including Ohio:

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techpolicy/evoting/2004-11-04-1000-reports_x.htm

It seems one precinct with less than a thousand voters recorded over 6,000 votes for Mr. Bush.

Most excellent. I went for the stark, easy-to-digest text block myself, but that's only 'cause I'm such a great artist.... :-7

I thing he has some nerve doing that. No other elected president "won" both terms by such a combined small margin.
He should be more concerned about fixing the problems he has helped cause rather than discussing the election.

Well, yeah. But, from the git-go, he's shown that his obvious concerns are consolidating power for the Repubs, enriching his friends and donors, and pushing an evangelical religious agenda. His "solutions" to problems are unwieldy, underfunded, and often designed to exacerbate the problems -- the "such terrible food, and such small portions" joke taken to the extreme of the owner of Restaurant A becoming chef at Restaurant B, hoping to drive B out of business.

If he gave a single shit about this country, I would not despise Dubya as much as I do. He does not. But he says he does, and the media goes along, and I'm ranting too much tonight. Screw that. The Incredibles tomorrow. Yeah!

You know, as the resident Jargonautâ„¢, it is my responsibility to point out that the CafePress shirts leave out a very important comma.

What on Earth would I do after mandating someone's ass?

On a separate note, with my new patriotic color scheme, your logo is now over a completely red field. You look like sort of a wired-up Che Guevara. ;)

BTW, have y'all seen the shirts available at United Blue States of America?

I'm partial to the "Better Dead than Red" ones, myself....
