filkertomNow this is cool. A high-quality freeware spaceflight simulator. Not a game, not a battle system, not anything with Wars or Trek or Craft in the title.
This lets you fly the Space Shuttle. And a Dragonfly. And a bunch of other stuff. And there's an active community to help, to add on, and to explore the solar system with.
It's not even that big a download. And the online gallery is gorgeous.

You haven't seen Orbiter before
Date: 2004-11-12 04:17 pm (UTC)Even better there is a substantial community producing all sorts of add-ons (new craft, new surface bases, new orbital stations, new planetary objects, new application MFD's).
It's fairly easy to make your own space craft too!
A good first stop after downloading it and RTM, is the Orbiter Forum http://orbit.m6.net/v2/boardtalk.asp
http://www.orbithanger.com is a good stop for addons of nearly every type, although there are some up on avsim.com to.
My recommendation for a 'Wow' factor is Kulch's Space Elevator
